An explosion roared somewhere off in the distance, the Romans were turning the skeleton warriors to dust faster than they could re-form. The ghost king and commander of the undead soldiers, Nico di Angelo was furious. He had promised the other Greek armies that his soldiers would help them win the war and defend camp. After killing a few more Roman soldiers and giving orders to the skeleton warriors to retreat back to the underworld, he went back to his cabin to iris message his wife Queen Melissa in hopes that she could cheer him up after a long frustrating battle. After a few minutes Melissa finally responded to the iris message. "Hey, how's the war going, you're not injured or anything, are you?" Melissa inquired. Nico caught a slight worried tone in her voice. "Oh, um, it's going great, don't worry I'm fine." Nico partially lied not wanting Melissa to worry about him. "How are things in the Underworld, Octavian isn't bothering you, is he?" Nico asked knowing how annoying the guy could be. The only reason Octavian was there was because he insisted that Melissa needed help governing over the souls in the Underworld. Nico wanted to instantly turn down Octavian's offer but Melissa thought it was a great idea and instantly agreed, so not wanting to argue with Melissa he agreed before leaving for battle. "Of course not why would you say that? In fact Octavian has given me a few good ideas on ways to keep the rebellious souls in line." Melissa answered snapping Nico out of his thoughts. There was a sudden loud banging noise on the door, so Nico quickly said goodbye and waved his hand through the mist disconnecting the iris message. He got up and opened the door to see who decided to bother him, and as soon as he opened the door Percy rushed in telling Nico that he was needed out on the battle field. "Ugh why am I constantly needed out there, can't I rest for a few hours? Come on Percy, you should know that with great power..." "Comes great need to take a nap, yeah, yeah I know but there's no time the Romans are advancing into the camp quickly and the defense lines are barely holding up." Percy interrupted. Knowing that he had no choice but to help he followed Percy out of the cabin.
A few months later Nico went home to his Palace in the Underworld after the war to find that his Kingdom was in terrible shape and had no doubts that Octavian had something to do with it. Finding that his suspicions were correct, Octavian was removed from his position in the government and put to death, where his soul would join those who were sentenced to the fields of punishment for all eternity. Melissa wasn't too happy with Nico for doing this, thinking that the man had done nothing wrong. But not wanting to add to the bad mood that Nico was already in from having to clean up the mess that Octavian had left the kingdom in. Unfortunately he was a little too late and the souls started up riots which eventually turned into a full on revolution. Nico decided to go to each of the major cities in Elysium and to The Fields of Asphodel himself to reason with the souls trying to fix the mess. With little success a few days later he finally decided to go back to the palace and take some time off to be with his family. Unfortunately while shadow travelling back to the palace his course had been changed and he ended up just beside the Styx at the entrance of the Underworld instead.
