"Get your board, loser, we're going skating."
I sunk even more into my covers than I already was. Kayden has literally been repeating the same line for the past ten minutes, each time in a different pitch of his voice.
"Losserrr."
"Looossserrr!"
"LOSER?!"
"Loser, c'mon."
I sighed, tossing the covers off of me. "Kayden, I am trying to sleep. It is too early in the morning and you know I'm definitely not a morning person!"
"Please let me in."
"No."
"Why not?" I looked at my best friend who had his nose pressed up against the glass of my window. It made his nostrils look ten times larger.
"Because then I'd have to get up and walk all the way over there.." I said lazily.
Kayden scoffed. "You're such a lazy pig."
"But you love lazy pigs, right?"
"Girl, lazy pigs are the life of the party now let me the hell in."
I choked out a weak laugh and went back under the covers, shielding my face from the sunlight making its way into my room through the window.
"Zoey! Let me in! I'm about to fall off the roof!" I ignored him and tried to drift back asleep. It's the last full week of summer vacation. I need to sleep in as much as I can.
Kayden started to endlessly tap on the window for about five minutes until he randomly stopped and I couldn't be any more relieved. I thought I was going to have to go out there and push him off the roof myself.
A few minutes passed and I was actually beginning to worry about him.
While I decided whether or not I wanted go out and check on him, I heard a door creak open and a sudden breeze of air flowing under my blanket.
I furrowed my eyebrows and carefully stuck my head out of the covers to be hit with the sight of Kayden running towards me. The door to my balcony was slammed opened, inviting the warm breeze of the morning atmosphere. I yelped, hiding back under my silky, lilac blanket.
In a matter of seconds, Kayden was on my bed, jumping wildly.
"Get up, Buttercup! Get up! Get up!"
I stayed under the covers, mentally choking him against a wall.
"Give up, Kayden." I snorted.
I felt as he plopped down beside me and draped an arm around my waist even though I was still, surprisingly, sweating under the covers. He was close, too close, but I was used to it. He is my best friend after all.
For a few minutes, we laid there, silent. I actually was starting to fall back asleep.
Then, to my dismay, Kayden removed the blanket from my face and tucked the strands of hair that were covering my face behind my ear. I could feel him getting closer to me, if that was possible. We were basically spooning.
"Can you get off of me? There's this thing called a personal bubble and you're about to pop it," I said, still annoyed that he woke me up so early.
I felt him raise up and lean his face closer to mine. My breathing hitched in my throat as he put a hand on my cheek and made me look up at him. Kayden's crystal blue eyes bored deep into my light brown ones for a moment. He smirked.
"I brought doughnuts."
I shot up from my position beside him, a smile suddenly plastered on my face. "No way."
