The three cats walked silently through the dark, cold forest. They decided long ago that it would be better for them to remain silent. There was more of a chance of them getting caught when they were talking. They had no idea where to go, and the forest gave them chills.
Blossompaw’s whiskers twitched, she kept feeling like something was following them, not a cat, but a spirit. It didn’t seem evil though, it seemed like it wanted to help. Blossompaw saw Sootpaw look up, and then he pointed his tail to the right. Blossompaw strained her ears and she heard voices. Bramblepath also noticed and nodded his head toward a tall tree. They climbed it quickly and silently before the voices, which were actually two cats, came into view.
The first cat was a white tom with dark brown eyes, and the second was a silver she-cat with pale blue eyes, she was so skinny she seemed like a ghost, and her coloring didn’t help her look any less ghostly.
“Bonescar, do you smell anything?” the silver cat asked anxiously. “Of course not Thistleburr.” The white tom replied. “I can’t wait until Leaffox finds out how to possess more than one cat at once.” Thistleburr snickered. Blossompaw’s ears pricked up, they were talking about the stone! “Yes, and then we can take over all the clans one by one.” Bonescar sneered. “There is just one thing that troubles me Bonescar.” “What is that?” “How come we can’t control certain cats?” Bonescar thought for a while before answering, “Maybe their destinies are so important, that they can’t be possessed.” Then the cats walked out of hearing range.
Blossompaw looked at Bramblepath’s face, he was trying to hold back tears, Sootpaw noticed as well. “What’s wrong Bramblepath?” Sootpaw asked him. “What he said, is my destiny not important?” “I’m sure it’s important Bramblepath, Bonescar was just wrong that’s all. Bramblepath smiled a weak smile, ‘Thanks.”
The cats climbed down the tree making sure they didn’t make any noise. They traveled the way Bonescar and Thistleburr came from, and hoped that they would find more clues in that direction. Blossompaw felt the spirit that was following them getting closer. She looked back, but she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but something was there, she just couldn’t see it. Once Blossompaw looked forward again, a column of, wind blew, but the noise was so quiet Blossompaw didn’t know to look back at the wind, where pictures of their future began to show.
