TWO YEARS LATER...
I was married now. I couldn't believe it. I got pregnant just after my marriage with a baby boy, his name was Oliver. I really enjoyed having a little boy. To this day I still wondered what happened to my high school sweetheart, and where he ended up being. It was me and my husband, with my children that lived in the house together. My mother and father only contacted me once during the time we were here, and they told me they were happy for me and they'd be home soon. My brother bought the house next door to ours, and we see each other all the time. It was a secluded area, surrounded by trees. Two lake houses practically side by side. Our house faced the street, where as my brothers faced ours. There was a pathway that branched off through the trees in between each of ours that took us straight down to the lake. My brother finally became a detective. I was proud of my older brother. He and his wife Sierra had two beautiful daughters named Steph and Stacy. Steph was the eldest. Both of our children are close in ages. I was happy for him, and he was happy for me. We always had Sunday night dinner at each other's homes. Sometimes we moved them down to the lake when it was nice outside. I looked at Oliver as he was sleeping in my hands. I looked at him and smiled to myself, the creations I have made, made me happy.
JORDON'S POINT OF VIEW
I was heading out to work, but as I left the house I suddenly got a call that would lead me to where I used to work at the construction site two years ago as another job for money. I got into my car, responded back and told them I'd be there in just a few short minutes. I drove towards the construction site as I had parked off to the side. Seeing the usual, police cars with their lights on, ambulances, fire trucks, everyone everywhere. I just shrugged and thought that it was any other day really for me. Finding lots of crime, that's when I noticed the coroner was parked by a pit, which meant someone was murdered, or it was a suicide. I walked up to the police tape, flashed my badge and they let me slide under the yellow bright tape that said, 'DO NOT CROSS' I approached my partner where he was talking to the owner of the construction site.
"Good morning Detective Jordon." The owner, Greg, had said to me as he nodded his head.
"Good morning Greg, what happened?" I asked.
"We had found someone under our cement as we removed it, because it was placed in the wrong spot, I'm assuming over the weekend."
"You guys found someone?" I asked stunned. "Who?"
My partner turned to me, "His name is Ashton Stinton."
My jaw dropped; my heart even dropped... "Did you know him?"
I looked at my partner, "I did yes, he was the one who knocked up my sister in the first place...he left two years ago now."
"He was alive nearly five days ago." My partner, Alec told me.
He was very tall, he had dark skin. He had short brown hair, but he had nice blue eyes, I know me saying blue eyes...nice...but they are. What can I say? I looked at him and just knew that something was up, he wouldn't go off and die. Nor would he do suicide either.
"So, what do you think happened?" I questioned examining the body.
"I think he got in the crowd of wrong people, see." Detective Alec said as he pulled up his sleeve to his arm and revealed a familiar tattoo, we all knew of.
The tattoo belonged to a gang that was well known around our area of Legal, Alberta in Canada. We might be small with only 1,345 people in our little town, we do know a lot of people around here. Ashton had been forgotten about but thought about from time to time. His grandmother had died shortly after he had left, so I'm sure he had come back for that. For all we know he could have been sneaking around here right under our noses. His hair looked different; his face even looked different. But his wallet had his identity, but we were going to run prints for him anyways just to make sure. That's when I realized, I would have to call Bella, call her and tell her, or ask her to meet me first...she will be devastated, although she's moved on and married, I know it'll hurt her a lot. She shared a first baby with him, and he ran out on her. I hope she won't really waste too much time crying over him. Although, they were best friends first, so I do understand. I'm not sure what she will think considering she doesn't know yet, but she will soon because word will get around, and I want to make sure I tell her before hand. I looked at Detective Alec and wondered what had happened and investigating around where the gang hung out was going to be tough, because they know we are cops and they don't like us snooping around. They were known as the 9th Street Gang. Only because they were located on ninth street. Which meant my partner and I had to pay them a visit and ask them a few questions which, they won't like at all. But it must be done. I called Bella quickly before heading over to ninth street, she had picked up and asked what was up. I told her that I needed to see her within the hour and that I had to interview some people but asked her if I could meet here over on 18th street once I was done, hoping in an hour. She had agreed and told me that she'd be there within the hour. We had got in the car to head towards ninth street, and we reached it within a few moments, and we got out right outside the gate, the guys looked at us as we walked inside. We all knew what they did, but no one really acted, but if murder was involved, then we must know what happened. We might have to shut down all that they do here that's illegal, in Legal.
