Chapter 4: WHAT'S YOUR POWER?

They all looked weak. Powerless. It was as if the life in them was getting sucked out.

I carry myself with what little of my strength is left. I try to help them but as I moved closer to them, they seemed to be in more pain.

So it occurred to me. It's me. I'm the one causing all of this. I'm the one giving them unbearable pain. I move further away from them and as I do so, it proved my guess. They got better each step I take away from them. I'm now far away from them. They all stood up, still looking a little bit weak.

Questions started running through our minds. How did this happen.

I look at them with apologetic eyes as it seemed that they also know why they all went weak.

"This was a mistake. Joining you is clearly not the choice. I, obviously, do not belong here." I said to them with regret in my tone.

But instead of being angry at me. They all smiled at me. A small action and yet a million thoughts ran through my mind. Why are they smiling, are these people crazy? Is this what the man was referring to when he said they're just as messed up as I am.

"No, this is exactly the reason you should join us!"  Minerva said here tone being brighter than ever.

"Why? I'm clearly not good for you people, you got weak the minute I got close to you and you expect us to be in the same room?!" I ask them freaking out a bit. I really hope they give a reasonable explanation about why they're smiling.

"It's your potential. This is your power! We're happy because you've finally tapped in to your powers! " Avianna said which caught me off guard.

"What?!" I'm really not getting any of this.

"Your power. your potential! This just proves that you really should join us. You clearly don't know how to control it yet, but we can help you with that. " Jax said clearing things out for me.

I try to wrap my head around this news I've just received. I'm not as ordinary as I think I am. For once I feel... Special. I feel my face forming a small smile.

"We should get going, they'll probably go back here soon." Mabel said. She doesn't seem to be surprised as the others with the idea that my potential is here, probably because she saw it happen before. Foresight really ruins surprises.

We a head out of the building. I'm still trying to keep my distance from them. This is not the best time for any of us to fall down. I also try to not use my power, Altough I'm not really sure how so I just end up putting my hands in my pockets, hoping it would do the job.

As we finally went out of the building, we were welcomed by the terrifying view of the world. It's horrible, like a nightmare brought to life. The once blue and calming sky is now blood red creating an eerie environment. Debris everywhere. Only a few buildings remain standing. This is what an apocalyptic world would look like. The only things that has life around here are us, there are no trees left. If I didn't knew better I'd say that our world is dead.

As we were walking a huge screen in a building which looks like it is about to fall down by the slightest touch of a bird. In the screen stood Emperor Kratos, the leader of all generation Kratos. He was wearing an all black attire with a few hints of red in his attire. He was wearing formal suit.

"The world is full of glitches, mistakes of nature, and if we want a better life it is needed that the world be cleansed out of all the glitches it has. Generation Chronos was unfortunately that glitch. The Great Cleansing is not a move for us, it is for the world's sake" The man in the screen said. The video being presented was pre recorded, I remember hearing those lines, right before IT happened. This was the message shown to the world before our generation was wiped out.

"And so we must get rid of Gen Chronos to bring back peace to all."  He added. We weren't even causing any violence. The only time we got violent was when we were being oppressed, but even then we just peacefully request to change how they treat us and do better next time.

"on behalf of all Kratos, we give you  the great Cle---" the screen flashed and glitched causing it to shut down.

"This is why we formed this group. We need to fix all the mistakes Kratos has done because they are blind to see it themselves." Mabel said breaking the silence.

"There are more of us, you know. They're in other places, hiding and finding more survivors. But so far there are only about a hundred of us, 5 of which are the ones we know has powers, until we met you which makes  6 powered Chronos."  Jax said looking down at the ground trying not to look at this horrid environment.

" 6? so theres one more? "  I ask realizing what he just said.

" Yes, he volunteered to spy at the Kratos as we need to know what they are planning. " Avianna answered me not being all pumped up to talked about him.

They did not want to talk about him. Something terrible must have happened because they all answer my questions. So I stopped thinking about this powered Chronos to stop questions from being made.

After a few more minutes we stop at a broken building. "Were hereeee!" Minerva said in a sing-song voice. I was expecting they're headquarters be more...new I guess.

"don't worry, the hq is underground" Minerva said, she probably read my thoughts again.

I chuckled nervously as she knew what I was just thinking. Jax went to the door and pressed a few buttons, after 5 beeps a different door opened. My eyes widened, it's a secret base.

We all went down. I'm shocked with what I saw. Everything here seems high technology.

"so, about my powers... What is it exactly?"
I ask them and they all looked to Minerva.

"Go ahead" Mabel said to her.

She went closer to me and touched my forehead. She's using her powers as I can see her eyes light up. I freak out a little bit.

"Dont worry, this is what we do to know what powers we have. Minerva can look into your mind and give us the details on what you can do."

"It's dark. A power unlike any. He--he can neutralize and even take away one's power." Minerva said which takes them all by surprise.

"That explains why our powers gets messed up around you!" Jax said as if he discovered something brilliant.

"Yeah, you're not the only one who can connect dots here, Einstein." Mabel said to Jax.

Avianna laughed at Mabel's comment. Jax slightly smack Avianna in the head.

"Ow! what was that for?!" Avianna said hitting Jax in the arm.

I chuckle at them both. Suddenly I felt happy again since the world outside isn't really what gives you happy thoughts.

And just by experiencing a good emotion, Minerva sensed a whole new power I posses. "You can also reverse this. You can give back what you took. A neutralized powered person can once again have their powers if you wish to give it to them." Minerva said while removing her hands in my forehead.

They all look at me proud to themselves. It looks like they all achieved something great. It looks like this is the only good thing that has ever happened to them, finding and recruiting another powered Chronos.

"So, what's your power?" Jax asked me as they want me to say and clear it to them

"I can take away and give back other people's powers" I said laughing. I'm happy and I don't know why. Maybe their presence is what gives me happiness.
