It was finally here. The day that James, or Jimmy to family and friends, has been waiting for. Today was his 13th birthday. Jimmy was so pleased when he woke up that he smiled when he seen the sun shining and the birds chirping. He started to get up, but then felt something cold and wet... He wet the bed!

"What the hell? I have not wet the bed since I was 7..." Jimmy thought to himself. He thought about it some more while investigating the damage. His bed was soaked and along with his pajamas. He was thinking of what to do when his dad walked into his room.

"Hey Jimmy, how's my birthday bo.... What is wrong champ?" David asked his son when he saw the long look on his face.

"I wet the bed last night dad." Jimmy confessed to his father.

"Well that is nothing to be upset about son, it happens to the best of us from time to time. You probably drank too much soda last night and got excited about today. Tell ya what, you go get a shower and I will clean up this mess like it never happened. Sound like a plan?"David told his son.

"Ok, but please do not tell Ryan. He already teases me enough as it is..." Jimmy pleaded with his father

"I told you I would clean it up like it never happened, didn't I? That includes telling your older brother. Now come on we have a long day ahead of us full of fun. Starting with the breakfast that pain in the butt older brother made for you. So get in the shower and get to it." David told his son has he began taking the sheets off as Jimmy headed towards the bathroom. David smiled as he saw his son walk into the bathroom. It had been almost 4 years since he lost the love of his life, his beloved wife Mary to the drunk driver that T-boned her car as she was bringing Ryan back from a soccer game. He to this day will never forget the incident. In fact it was the most memorable day of his life, other than that of his sons being born. David was a Sheriff Deputy with Lake County and was on duty when his wife was hit by the drunk driver. He had just finished writing a disorderly ticket when a call came over the radio stating assistance needed an automobile accident involving a drunk driver. David was pulling up on the scene when he saw something that made his heart leap from his chest and out past the badge he wore. It was his then 13 year old son sitting on the curve with another Deputy holding him, a good friend of David's John Teagan, He looked around and saw two cars. The drunk's pickup truck almost undamaged and his wife's unrecognizable SUV. David hopped out of his car without putting it in park and ran towards his son, a passing by firefighter attending to the crash realizing what was going on hopped into the car and put it in park and walked on like nothing happened. David rushed to his son asking if he was ok and hurt at all. An EMT was nearby and told him they needed to take his son to the hospital to get checked out. He said he is going with and asked about his wife. The EMT just looked down and said I am sorry before David burst into tears before turning to his son hugging him as he helped him into the back of the ambulance. That day stuck with David and he was glad his son was ok, but distraught over the loss of his wife and mother of his sons.

"Hey dad is Jimmy about ready for breakfast? I figured I could be nice to the little twerp today as long as he comes to the breakfast I made before it get cold. I mean after all French Toast is his favorite." Ryan asked his dad still in daze.

"Yeah he wanted to take a quick shower though. He will be at the table in a minute. I am going to throw some laundry in the wash and I will be there myself soon." David replied. Ryan looked at his father with Jimmy's bedding in hand and asked;

"Jimmy have an accident?" David looked at his eldest son and calmly told him no that it was the day to wash bedding so he should get his as well. Ryan just nodded and went to his bedroom to get his bedding and throw it in the laundry room.
