This story isn't much of what you'd even begin to expect. Trust me, for a tiny town, a ton of uneventful things happen there. The horrible part is that it's named Saltwater Grove, there aren't even any salt waters!! A work of irony at its finest, thanks, elders.
Sure, you have your local fast food joints, a donut shop that also sells coffee and a ton of other things, a small mini-mall- But I'm getting ahead of myself. This story is about friendship, love in all forms! Finding family in uncertain situations! Believe me, I should realize it! For now, this story begins with a rather- er, enthusiastic object!
Strawberry Milk has been up since 5:30- no, 5:15? She lost a sense of time over getting herself ready for school, which was typical enough for her. She set her backpack on her bed as she began to adorn it with her pins and keychains. While she wasn't one to care about her appearance and belongings, she felt like it would be nice to get to decorate this year! She was joining a recent environment, and wanted to give a nice impression!
"Anddd- done!" She spoke happily, securing her last pin on her bag. She pulled herself back and looked at it in slight shock, she was proud of herself!
"What?"
Silence rang through her room before she conversed up again.
"Oh don't look at me like that! This is a new year! A new area! I just want to...Persuade the right people? That's weird to describe. Y'know what? What does it matter! You're just a backpack, and I'm talking to you like you're alive." Strawberry Milk glanced at her backpack and sighed. "Look, I just...I'm concerned? I mean, you look kinda crazy! Sorry, that's mean- You don't to me though!"
Strawberry Milk knew she wasn't going to get an explanation out of it, but it felt like she couldn't stop rambling.
"This stinks!! I have barely any classes with my friends! I have a class with Ink Pen and Glowstick, and another with Lemon, which is pretty lucky, I guess...I miss Spriggy and Peanut Butter, and Clipboard...and Crab Plush...Lego...Magic Potion, and Black Cherry Float..."
Something pained her when she knew how she hardly was going to get to see all of them. She felt her mood change gradually before quickly changing to a bright smile. "But that doesn't matter!! We're going to see each other at the Park after school today! And I'm gonna hug them all and tell them how much I love them!!"
Strawberry Milk quickly checked through her backpack, making sure she had everything all set. Her sketchbook, supplies, snacks, wallet...Check! Great! She was all set.
A knock came from her door, Strawberry Milk turned around and saw her mother, Candle, standing in her doorway. Her wax was a white color, it was evened out inside the glass and was rarely ever lit. The only time Strawberry Milk had seen her wic was in a flame was when her anger sparked, it took a lot to set that off.
"Were you speaking to yourself again?" "Just my daily pep talk!" Strawberry Milk put her backpack on and she grabbed her device off her bed. Candle sighed and smiled lightly.
"You're babysitting Butterscotch after school today, right?" Candle questioned, watching her daughter look at her phone. "Mmhmm! I'm taking her to the park like usual, I'll help her with assignments and whatnot and then I'm also gonna chill out with my buds!"
Strawberry Milk smiled lightly to her mother and went over to her, giving a light kiss on her glass rim. "I'll be picking you and Butterscotch up at 5:30, I love you kiddo!"
"Love ya Mama!" Strawberry Milk slid past her Mother and saw her brother, Strawberry Candle sitting at the kitchen table. "See when I get home bro! I love you!" She opened the door to the apartment and began to make her way down the stairs and out of the apartment complex.
