snowy skies - hwang hyunjin

intro/chapter 1

a/n here! this is a quick intro to this fic, just the plot/characters/genre/tw, etc.

1. plot!
theres not much to explain, i feel like writing an angst right now so here we are. prepare to get pissed at the characters bc theyre gonna be making some idiotic impulsive decisions. the storyline follows lee minjae (y/n but with a name), a high school girl with ✨trauma✨ and ✨daddy issues✨, and how this dumbass (hwang hyunjin) somehow breaks down her dummy thicc walls.

((i promise ill be more serious and use correct capitalization and punctuation after the intro))

2. characters!
this is a reader(kind of) x hwang hyunjin, school au, where stray kids doesnt exist. so the main characters are minjae, hyunjin, and supporting role/dumbass best friend felix. also kind of bang chan because we stan

(other groups/members may be mentioned as well, such as day6, twice, blackpink, and others)

3. genre!
romance/angst, yeah prepared to be frustrated

4. trigger warnings/last notes!
TW: cursing, sensitive subjects (su1c1de, drugs, abuse, etc.), slightly mature scenes (nothing rly spicy, just like 14+ i guess. the author [me, no shit] is 13 herself, so dont expect too much lol)

also the chapters may vary in length, im mostly improvising this story. i tend to prefer long chapters myself, so id say an average of 1000-1050 words per chapter? im not sure though!

now, without further adue, let the fanfic begin!

The cool, crisp ground crunches underneath my feet as I make my way down a small dirt path.  An icy wind ruffles my hair, causing me to shake my head and nearly fall into Felix. The two of us are headed to a location unbeknownst to me, Felix is convinced that I'm gonna love this place, wherever it is. 

"Jeez Felix, how long is this walk gonna take?" I protest, usually I love long forest walks but right now, it's cold and there's frost on the ground, and neither of us brought gloves. I nuzzle my head into my jacket collar, which doesn't do much, but warmth is warmth right now. 

"Minjae, chill out a little, will you?" Felix says, then smirks at his own little pun. "It's not much further from here, only a few minutes." He shakes his head, luckily he brought a hat. I cross my arms, hopefully he's right. We continue on this narrow forest path, a part of me is almost grateful for the icy ground. If it wasn't all frozen, this would just be a muddy mess. 

We come upon a small wall of brambles and branches, and Felix only pushes past them, giving me a look, saying "We're nearly there, give me a few seconds." 

We move through the brambles in a blunder (A/n did i use that word right?), breaking many dead twigs along the way. Finally, a clearing opens up, and we stumble into the open. 

"Minjae, look." Felix breathes, motioning in front of us. I look up, and my eyes are met with a beautiful pond, the lilies and flowers seem to shine against the frosty, snowy background. There are small chunks of the pond that are frozen, mostly around the edges of the water. The slowly setting sun casts a shine onto the water, completing the truly magical view. 

The water is by no means clear and swimmable, there's mud and the occasional piece of plastic or fabric in the water, but the view is still gorgeous. 

"I knew you'd like this." Felix laughs, noticing my starstruck gaze. Really, the view is so pretty.. I never even knew this forest had a pond, or any body of water, for that matter. Of course, there's the occasional stream, but this? This was unexpected. 

Nearly an hour passes. Felix and I've been playing around enjoying the view, clearing out sticks and branches. The sun has almost nearly set, signaling that it's time for us to go, before we get lost. 

With that, we make our way out of the chilly forest, and back into public. Now, it's time to go home and face my mother and father.
