The day had finally rolled along. Tickets in hand. I scanned over my outfit. It wasn't much... a jet black ,spaghetti strap ,tank top. paired with a black skirt and matching knee socks. Throwing on an oversized grey cardigan, I ran a hand through my blonde waves. Alex always told me how much he loved my hair, how I should never dye it. He said he loved how each strand was a different blonde tone, and when coiled together a light honey shade took body.

A voice disrupted my thoughts swiftly as I felt a warmth of body heat press against me. " I wish you'd dye your hair brunette, you'd look so much fitter." Mumbled the deep voice.

I let out a groan. Jack always seemed to get on this subject, whenever he caught me touching up my appearance in the mirror.

"I like it blonde." I retorted. "Anyways, how do I look?" I smiled as I turned around to reveal my preparations for tonight.

"You look nice." He placed a kiss on my forehead. It was like he knew what he said earlier was uncalled for and tried to compensate. He would often do that. He would say a passive aggressive remark ,and play it off like a compliment by combining it with a smile and a kiss.

After a shortish car ride, (thanks to my friend Scarlett for sharing some shortcuts to the arena.) we made it there before it's staring time. I miraculously talked my way backstage, And With Jack leading behind me ,we began our search for Alex.
It was my first time backstage here, or anywhere, for that matter. It was badly lit and filled with crew members and curtains. It was what I imagined it to do be; maybe a little smaller and narrow, and also stuffy. You would think for such a successful arena, they'd pay for air con.

It wasn't long until I heard the affiliation.

"Ophelia Persephone Grant. In the flesh and blood, what the hell are you doing 'ere??" Quizzed Alex with that wide smile. In Which I hadn't seen in an awfully long time.

I turned around to face the voice with happy
tears forming in my pale blue hues.

"Alex!"

Greeted with an embrace from Alex, I almost threw myself into his arms. Like it was the last time I'd see him. I held onto him with all my might. A small tear glistened down my cheek.
"Fucking hell!" I whispered with disbelief sinking in my tone. It felt like a fever dream. the boy I spent my late childhood and teen years with ,was a global star with hit albums and thousands of fans across the nation.

"I 'aven't seen you in years. You look stunning, Ophelia." He kissed my cheek in a friendly manner.

As we released from the hug, Jack was stood with his arms folded and a bored expression painted on his face.

"Oh, Alex. This is my boyfriend Jack." I watched as Alex greeted him with a firm handshake, smile and small talk to break the ice.

I stood beside Jack as he slid his arm around my waist and We listened to what Alex had to say. I won't lie ,I didn't really pay much attention to the mans words, I was still in shock that it was him standing before me. The cheeky little Sheffield boy with a scruffy little trim. Now a big star. Mind, he did gain beauty with age. He slicked his hair back and strands fell onto his forehead, bundling the look perfectly. and he was wearing a suit that was so suave and seductive on him. But those chocolate eyes remained the breathtaking attraction. And his cheeky little grin. I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle to myself as I revelled in the nostalgia.

I swiftly reverted back to the conversation, in respect for Alex.

" the pair of ya' should join me and the monkeys for a drink after the show?" Alex offered.

I turned to Jack to see if he was ok with the offer. to my surprise his reaction didn't seem negative, but he wasn't overly joyed either.

I turned back to Alex with a half hearted smile. "Actually... Jack has work in the morning, but I can still tag along for an hour or so."

"OI ALEX! We are meant to be on the stage in ten minu- OPHELIA?" Another familiar voice rang through my ears. Not long before Matt grabbed me into a bear hug.

"I didn't notice you there. you've changed! It's lovely to see you." Said the larger man before me.

"Aww Matt! You look great, how are you?" I cheered.

We slowly both withdrew from the hug, making casual conversation. After a small babble about what we'd been upto since our adolescence, Matt repeated to Alex that they were due on stage concerningly soon.

Alex scratched his upper. "Yeah. ehh, I'll be with you soon, matt.  I'm just asking our Ophelia and 'er fella ,if they'd want to join us for a few drinks."

'Our Ophelia.' Brought serotonin flooding through my veins. We had been reunited for only a few minutes , but he made it feel like we were never apart.

"Ohh right" nodded matt. "You should definitely come, phelia." He added before flashing a smile and excusing himself to what I imagined was him off to prepare for the show. We all waved Matt off with affability and salutation hugs.

"Listen, I've got to go soon. but I'll see you after the show, yeah? Lovely seeing you, Ophelia. And Jack." He reaffirmed.

We watched his shrinking figure enter the stage. I turned to Jack throwing my arms around the back of his neck and looked up at him. Pressing our bodies together. "What do you think?" I pressed a kiss on his lips. Pulling away with a twinkling smile.

"They're alright." He smiled back down at me.

His little to no input or opinion was an instant red flag. Jack was very hard to please. He came across like a snob, but I promise he isn't, he's just very reserved. I often have to explain this to my friends, I'm sure he doesn't mean it personally...
