Chapter 1: Rodan vs Obsidius

Mount St Helens, Washington
19 hours to Apocalypse- Chaos was reigning across the planet except around Mount St Helens where all was peaceful for the moment but in reality it was just the calm before the storm. Within the volcano, the magma had begun to bubble unnaturally until a beastly form made of pure magma began to rise out of it. It didn’t really have a distinct figure but it then it began to mutate and form arms, a tail and the shape of a head but it hadn’t formed legs, hands, or even a face yet. The creature continued to grow in height but then it heard a screech and looked up to see 2 beady eyes glowing red in the shadows of the volcano. Then suddenly a winged figure dropped down out of the shadows with a furious screech as it dove down at the creature at supersonic speeds while trailing flames not unlike a giant phoenix. The king of the skies Rodan then pulled up at the last minute and unleashed a powerful sonic boom that knocked the creature crashing into one of the walls of the volcano. The creature tried to turn around to face Rodan but it’s molten arm had fused to the obsidian covered wall. Rodan flew out of the mouth of the volcano with a screech that terrified the sightseers before spreading his wings and diving back down into the volcano. Rodan dove straight at the creature with a screech of rage, it’s talons raised for the kill. At the last second however, the creature ripped its arm free of the mountain and hit Rodan with such force that the giant pterodactyl was sent hurtling back with a surprised screech of pain into the side of the volcano so hard it cracked on the outside of the mountain. The creature looked down in surprise at its  bulky obsidian covered arm, riddled with magma running and dripping between the cracks of the volcanic rock and ending in 3 large fingers. Spotting an opportunity, rodan flew down and grabbed hold of the distracted creature's arm and began lifting it into the air as lava continued to drip from it into the magma pool below. Rodan then began to swing the creature around in circles over and over, building up momentum until Rodan finally let go, hurtling the creature down the side of the volcano and back into the magma in a enormous splash. Rodan flew in close for the kill but then suddenly the creature burst out of the magma and slammed the back of it's new hand into rodan’s beak, breaking off some pieces of obsidian in the process. Rodan was sent hurtling back but the pterodactyl caught himself by spreading his wings and taking back into the air. The creature now had 2 enormous rock arms thanks to rodan’s last attack and so rodan decided it was time to switch tactics. Rodan turned around in the air and began to dive at the creature who readied itself for the attack but it couldn’t have possibly predicted what would come next. Rodan’s horns crackled with energy just before rodan unleashed a purple heat ray from its mouth, punching straight right through the creature’s magma filled chest. The creature lifted its hands up to block the blast while its chest regenerated but the blast began to burn through the creature’s obsidian rock arms. Rodan continued to dive straight at the creature while blasting to keep the creature’s arms up until finally rodan slammed its talons into the creature’s arms and slammed the creature into the side of the volcano. Rodan slammed the creature into the rockface repeatedly, digging its back and the back of its head into the side of the volcano until suddenly it slammed its head forward, breaking off 3 enormous pillars of rock that formed 3 horns behind its head and unleashed a blood curdling roar, stunning rodan and everyone that could hear it outside the volcano for miles into silence. Then the creature’s head began to glow with power and rodan’s eyes widened in surprise, realizing something was about to happen. It leaped out of the way just before a blast of pure heat and molten magma fired from the creature’s face, punching right through the volcano and annihilating the Johnston Ridge Observatory in a explosion of lava and rubble. Sightseers screamed and ran for their lives as rubble and lava rained down everywhere, burning people’s skin permanently or crushing them into paste respectively while the blasts of heat continued to slice through Mount St Helens uncontrollably. Suddenly the side of the volcano exploded as rodan was sent tumbling out of the volcano by a blast and crashing back down into the forest with smoke rising from the burnt spot on his chest. The creature then burst out of the volcano with a roar, moving slowly as it’s molten lower half formed legs and feet that were covered in obsidian along with its 3 pronged tail as it busted through the side of the volcano. Rodan looked up with a screech of anger as the creature approached before firing a trio of blasts, one from its face and two from its palms. Rodan’s eyes widened in surprise and the speedy pterodactyl dove out of the way, just barely dodging the blasts as they blew the top off of Mount Adams. The fully formed magma creature later known as Obsidius roared as it grew accustomed to its legs very quickly began to charge straight at rodan while the pterodactyl flew up into the air and dove straight at obsidius. Rodan screeched with rage as he slashed obsidius with his talons and pecked his obsidian covered body with blows but obsidius’ obsidian armor was just too tough and thick for physical blows to do much damage. Obsidius roared with anger and grabbed rodan by the leg before slamming the pterodactyl in front of him. Obsidius lifted his fists to crush rodan but the pterodactyl unleashed a blast of his uranium heat ray right through Obsidius’ head, stunning the creature as it roared in agony, blinded by the attack. Without a physical connection to the magma flow, the abomination of nature couldn’t regenerate his face. Rodan saw an opportunity and with a screech he flew straight at Obsidius and grabbed him by his crown of horns before lifting Obsidius high into the sky. Obsidius roared in outrage as he slashed blindly through the air but he couldn't manage to grab hold of the pterodactyl as he carried them higher into the atmosphere. As they entered the stratosphere, Obsidius reached up and found rodan’s leg, yanking the pterodactyl down and attempting to crush the pterodactyl in a bear hug. However rodan then unleashed a powerful blast point blank into Obsidius’ arms, blowing them off completely. Obsidius howled in agony but was shut up by rodan blasting him in the chest until the blast began to push him up all the way into space. Obsidius roared in anger as he swung his tail in outrage but then suddenly the cold emptiness of space set in, freezing Obsidius’ molten body solid and rendering him simply another piece of space debris, floating around in the emptiness of space.
