You and your boyfriend, Drake, had been getting in a lot of arguments lately. If was all about stupid stuff. It always had been for the 4 months the two of you had been dating.

Lately, the fights were over you and your best friend, Jacob. Jacob has been your best friend since the 6th grade and lives rather close to you. Sure, it could be mistaken for something bigger than it was, but it wasn't. You and Jacob were strictly friends and that was the end of it.

Besides, Drake was your boyfriend. You were raised to keep promises and hold up to your commitments which you had been with your relationship with Drake. He didn't see it that way though. No matter what you said or did, nothing would change his mind that you were faithful and you were honoring your commitment.

Drake barged into your home that day yelling and screaming. The stench of alcohol coming from him could be smelled from miles away. It was typical for him though. He had been an active drinker ever since the two of you started talking. You always attempted to make him stop, but he never would.

"Do you have anything to say to me right now?" He asked quietly, yet still frustrated.

"What are you talking about?" You ask curiously while sitting up from your position on the couch.

"I know you're cheating. I just know it." He blurts out with the volume of his voice increasing.

"What the hell? You know I'm not like that! You know I'm not that low." You yell back at him and standing up.

"Are you? Because it seems like that little boy toy of yours is in the way of things between us." He says facing you. You roll my eyes in annoyance.

"Is this really what this is all about? Oh wait! I forgot. This is what all of our fights are about." You say sarcastically at him.

"I can't believe you don't even trust me! I'm your girlfriend for crying out loud!" You scream in anger. His breathing hitches for a second and you see a fist fly up to your face with a following aching pain.

Usually, you would fight back and give him what he deserves, but you couldn't. The pain coming from your eye was too distracting.

You then feel two hands come in contact with your shoulder as you fall to the hardwood floor. You let out a yelp of pain, letting him know that you are in pain. But he doesn't stop.

A few kicks later, you hear the sound of your front door opening.

"What the fuck!" Jacob's voice booms as a statement rather than a question throughout the house. A sense of relief came through your limp body as you slowly attempted to get back to a standing position.

With your head turned away, too scared to look, you hear Drake's sneakers move against the floor.

"Well, well, well," He starts.

"Would ya look who decided to join the party?" He says with a quiet laugh. You slowly get up from the floor and stand up. You get in between the boys and look to Drake, turning your whole body toward him.

"Drake, leave him alone." You order him.

"Oh, shut up, you whore." He says pushing you out of the way. Jacob moves closer to Drake, shoving him aggressively.

"Don't you dare call her that." Jacob says angrily. Drake scoffs at him.

"And you'll do what exactly?" Drake asks him. Jacob throws a fist at Drake and Drake falls to the floor. He attempts to shoot back up, but Jacob strikes him down with his strong fist. This continues for a few seconds before Jacob had enough of him.

He gets on top of him, hitting him with all of the strength in his body. At this point, Drake is helpless, lying on the floor with a bloody nose close to unconsciousness.

You couldn't stand the sight anymore. As much as Drake deserved it, you needed to stop this. You jerk yourself forward and reach for Jacob's forearm before he can go any further toward Drake's now bloody face. When you pull the brown eyed boy's arm, all it takes is one glance at you, and his eyes soften.

He stops immediately and stands up. He doesn't make eye contact with you, but to the breathless boy on the floor. Drake suddenly lifts his head and stares at the both of us, not believing what just happened.

"Now, get the hell out of my house." You say aggressively toward the wrecked face teenager sitting down like a child. It nearly takes him 10 seconds before he dashes out the door, driving away in his rusty, old Ford that was passed down to him from his father.

You feel Jacob's eyes on you as you inhale deeply, attempting not to let tears escape your bruised face. Sure, Drake was a total asshole, but he was your first love. You were together for quite a while and it hurt you to see him in the state that he was. Especially hurting the way that he hurt you, both physically and mentally.

Suddenly, you feel a large hand reach up to wipe the unexpected tear that was rolling down your sensitive cheek. Your eyes look up to see the beautiful brown haired boy. His eyes were caring and showed enough sympathy to compare to a lost puppy.

He pulls you into a much needed Jacob hug, placing his large hands on the back of your head, making you feel safe as can be. Your head rested against his warm chest and you heard his steady heartbeat, causing you to smile. He smelled of your favorite cologne that he always wears and wore your favorite hoodie to steal from him, his OBEY hoodie.

Jacob had always been your friend. Of course he had, but you started to think of what Drake said.

Did you like Jacob?

Jacob was constantly there for you and was always the first person to text you in the morning and the last person to text you at night. He was always protective of you and kept you safe. He made you smile and laugh endlessly, more than anyone in the world really could. He was the kindest and caring soul to ever exist. And he was incredibly handsome and cute.

What was not to like?

"Y/N?" Jacob's beautiful voice snaps you out of your deep thoughts.

"Mmm?" You hum as a question while your head still rests in his warm chest.

"I won't ever let him come near you again. I will keep you safe. I promise you." He tells you wrapping his arms tighter around you, if possible anyway.

"Thank you, Jacob. For everything. I don't know what I would ever do without you." You say and tilt your head to look at him, your chin still against his chest.

His hypnotizing brown eyes meet yours and you couldn't help but get lost in them. It felt as if he was looking straight through you. Like he knew exactly what you were thinking. He probably did.

Because that's when he leaned in, slowly pressing his soft lips to yours. You didn't hesitate one bit. You were longing for this to happen as it was. Judging by the kiss, you realized that he felt the same way as you. And you couldn't help but smile, your lips still near his and you saw him suddenly smile back.
