“Ricardo honey, come on you’re gonna be late.”

“Coming mom!” He shouted as he descended the stairs. He hurried to the kitchen and his dad was already seated reading his newspaper. For a man 6 feet tall, his dad didn’t look strange at all. Nicholas Sutherland was very handsome and had an aristocratic look. He had tussled brunette hair, was always clean shaved as he often emphasized how important that was in the business world. He had a suit on this morning Ricardo could tell that his dad had an important meeting, probably with the board of directors, being that it was the opening of a new branch and all. His dad owned the leading security company in the country. He didn’t even want to think about his net worth. They moved half way across the country to Norbrook. It was so sudden and with little or no explanation but he trusted his dad, he must have had his reasons.

His 7 month old little sister Lily was in her chair playing with her carrots and as always his mom was bustling around the kitchen finishing breakfast. Everything smelt so great ooohh the bacon and eggs…and toast..wait do I smell pancakes too?

His mom wiped her brow..He smiled he could just imagine how early she got up, nervous about the first day of school for him and work for his dad. She had long curly brunette hair that fell to her back. She was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever set eyes on. His mom was so hard-working and caring always making sure everything was okay. You could tell by the way his dad looked at her that he still adored her even after the 20 years they had been married and had a deep appreciation for all she did for him. She was his rib as he often put it.

“Morning mom, morning dad.” He said as he kissed them both. “Hey sissypoo.” Ricardo said givng his sister a loud kiss on her cheek.

“Hey hun, come and get something to eat, its your first day so just be calm and everything will be okay. Okay?” His mom said, putting way too many eggs on my plate.

Ricardo held the spoon, “ Mom, calm down.” He laughed. “Im gonna be okay.”

“I know you will son. I know it’s in the middle of the semester but try to make the best of it okay?” Dad said closing his newspaper.

He started to eat. “Yeah dad, I’ll be fine. Some credits will be transferred from my previous school so I should be okay.” He replied, digging into the pancakes and eggs and taking a sip of his orange juice. He looked at his watch, “Wow, im gonna be late, Ill see you guys later.”

“Okay hun, be careful, remember to floss and don’t break any hearts, do your homework, I hope you find your classes.’’ His mom shouted as he hurried through the door.

He just laughed, “ I love you too mom!” He shouted. “ Later dad, ill text you.”

I was actually good with directions, Ricardo thought as he drove. He was out of Nectar Brooks and at school within minutes and He had only been there once with his mom and dad for registrations. He was glad he remembered because it was either that or going with his mom or dad on the first day. The second option was optimal.  He pulled up to school and parked his car, He drove a silver Carrera G.T it was a bit much for being a high schooler but he loved Carreras ever since he was a child and his dad finally  gave him one for his sixteen birthday. It wasn’t about boasting or being spoilt, He just had a thing for cars and he loved the specs.
