Looking up at the small two story brick house, Clark felt nothing. No sense of recognition or feeling of being home. Bailey parked the car and Clark opened his door before reaching back into the backseat, grabbing his crutches. His left leg was in a cast and would be in one for six more weeks the doctor said, but that was if he didn't put any of his weight on it. Bailey walked around the car to help Clark up onto his good foot and she helped steady him as he put the crutches under his arms.
Bailey glanced up at him then stepped back once he nodded. She looked up at the house and led Clark up to the front door. Her mother had taken Gray to her own house so Bailey could help Clark get settled before bringing him back in time for dinner.
Unlocking and opening the front door, Bailey stepped back and let Clark inside. She saw him look around the house and winced at the memory that surfaced.
"Keep your eyes closed, love, or you'll ruin your surprise." Clark said, his hand resting on her waist then they disappeared as Bailey stood still, her eyes closed.
He had made her close her eyes while they were out 'running errands'. Bailey rolled her eyes, her hands covering her eyes, "Baby, I don't need anything. I have you and our future little one, that's enough for me."
Clark stepped behind Bailey, wrapping his arms around her to rest his hand on her slight baby bump, "I know, but I want to give you the world. Now this isn't the world, but I hope we can make our home. Open your eyes."
Bailey lowered her hands and gasped softly, looking up at the two story red brick house in front of her, "Babe, what did you do?" Clark kissed her cheek, grinning, "Nothing yet, I want you to have the final say, but I thought it was perfect for us the moment I saw it. Let's go look inside."
Clark led her inside after opening it with the key from the lock box and looking around, Bailey could see what Clark had meant when he said it was perfect. Though the house needed a new coat of paint, it definitely had potential. Clark explained his thoughts about the house, "Right here will be the living room and over there is the third bedroom, which has the second bathroom as an ensuite, but we could use it as an office or guest room."
Bailey watched Clark as he excitedly revealed he was already imagining them living there, smiling because his excitement was contagious. She looked around, smiling and followed him upstairs as he showed her the two upstairs rooms. The master suite was a good size with big windows to let in lots of light and the bathroom had a glass shower stall which she raised an eyebrow at.
Clark chuckled seeing her reaction, "The second bathroom has a tub, baby, I know you enjoy a good soak. If you want, we can remodel and have a tub put up here." Bailey nodded, "Maybe." The second bedroom overlooked the nice sized backyard and she already started thinking of nursery designs as they headed back downstairs to look at the kitchen, the more she saw of the house the more she could see it was perfect for them.
Clark smiled, looking around, "I really like how open this floor plan is. Oh, we can put our table over here against this wall and then through this sliding glass door is the backyard." He opened the door for her and Bailey stepped outside, looking around. "We could put a swing set up over there for Junior when he or she gets older and have a fire pit on the far end of the patio." Clark continued on excitedly before turning to look at her, "What do you think, baby?"
Bailey smiled and nodded, "I love it, Clark, but can we afford it? Is it for rent or sale?" "The owners are selling it and I think if we can get them to come down a bit then we'll be able to afford it with a small home loan from the bank. I know it's a bit of a gamble, but you and Junior deserve a real home, not a tiny shoebox of an apartment." Bailey gently cupped Clark's cheek, making him look up at her, "I don't care where we live, love, as long as we have each other." He nodded and kissed her palm, wrapping his arm around her to pull her closer. She smiled, "That being said, let's go see if the bank will give us that loan." Clark grinned and scooped her up, spinning her around, "Are you sure, love? You're not just saying that because I like this house. If you don't like it, we can find something else."
