Oh My Spirit,

Fear not, my love. Scared, you are, yet I remember your braveness when your father took your first military course, the one during our Sophomore Spring Break. I remember seeing that look in your eyes; I want you to remember that feeling. Spirit, I understand you, I do. I would be scared as well if I thought my life was at risk; I could only imagine what you've seen. But, my stallion, I believe in you. I believe you could make a difference in this war; however, I also believe you know best.

If you can't fight, don't want to fight, I will be the first to welcome you home. If you no longer feel comfortable in the military, there is no shame in resigning. I'll be the first to welcome you home, arms wide. It doesn't mean you must leave. You could become a messenger. However, I do know that you have a rare spirit; it's in your name, love.

In other news, it's been very lonely around the house; I find there is nothing to do. I was cleaning around the house when I spotted our wedding albums. I find it hard to believe it hasn't even been a year! Which reminds me: Do you remember Dawn, our neighbor? She recently became engaged! Most likely, it subconsciously drew me to our pictures. I know by the time you will receive this letter, you will already be in battle, safely I hope. I have to admit, I almost ripped your letter in half while opening the envelope. It's a funny thing, love is. I cling to your letter more than my passport.

Your parents stopped by the house today, and I could tell: they miss you as well. We had this very nice dinner; oh how I wish you could be there. I received some embarrassing stories, some of which I have never heard before. I will not share them in case any soldiers are nearby, but you never told me about the one with the orange juice. All jokes aside, love, I hope this war ends soon; did I mention I miss you?
