THEY WEREN'T ALWAYS a big fan of thunderstorms. it was loud, fear-inducing, and just extremely dangerous. as much as they loved the rain, thunderstorms are just a whole different level. so as a thunderstorm wreak havoc just outside of megumi's small room, ( name ) who had found comfort within their boyfriend's wall sat under a pillow fort barely holding on with a cup of hot cocoa on their hands and a fluffy blanket wrapped tightly on their body. they were currently in the middle of megumi's room, finding immense comfort from his scent that littered the room and simply the things he own.
they were taking in the sounds of the thunderstorm calmly, not a flinch nor even a speck of fear in their heart as they sat comfortably. "this is... unexpected." they murmured, placing the cup of cocoa on the floor as they move deeper into the fort. boom! there it was, the first thunder of the night. striking the starry night with a flash as the ground shook with vibrations, the trees swayed harshly against the wind. droplets hit the windows harshly like rocks thrown against glass. just as the harsh thunder strike once again, ( name )'s heart drops along.
fear, anxiety, and vexation comes flowing into them. their hands habitually covering their ears as they stray farther away from the window. they completely left the pillow fortress and have moved on to lay against the doors of megumi's closet. the cold hard wood gave them little comfort as they close their eyes. counting sheeps, counting to a hundred, imagining their boyfriend, they did everything they can to get their mind off of the thunderstorm. the bitter essence of a panic attack hovered loosely on their chest, heaving a big huff from the crouched person as they peel their eyes open.
the abyss of the dark greeted them warmly, their thoughts completely blank as they await another flash of thunder. they were desperate for the sweet touch of warmth from the boy they were waiting for, wondering if he will be able to come back safely through this thunderstorm. but their mind soon came to a halt as another thunder from the unenlightened sky comes baring with a sharp strike that shook the cowering ( name )'s heart.
tears didn't spill but fear surely imprinted themselves on their face, choosing to be strong through this fearsome situation but without megumi they couldn't keep it up for long. "( name )?" the call for their name broke them from the trance they were in, tuning in the soft voice their boyfriend had used. "hey.." they haven't even noticed megumi come inside the dimly lit room, his hair damp as his outer clothes was slightly wet. "goomi.." they mutter, sighing with relief as they stood up to hug the taller man.
"i'm drenched from the rain." he mutters but nonetheless hugged back his partner, slightly blushing as he felt their breath hot on his neck. "i don't care." they muttered back, tightening their grip on the raven haired. "i'll change quickly just wait here for a minute" megumi said as he tries to move the both of them on his bed, trying not to break the hug they were still in. "don't." megumi heard his partner whisper, his gaze softens as imagines just how scared they were to be alone with the thunderstorm.
"i promise i'll be quick... babe" he hesitates for a minute, not used to calling his lover pet names. he knew for a fact that ( name ) was fond of pet names yet he never gave them the satisfaction of him saying it, so saying it at their vulnerable moment just made the other melt. "fine" they mutter, loosening the tight grip on his neck. megumi quickly changed at light speed, even faster than the lightning that still rampaged outside.
after slipping on a long sleeve black shirt, he quickly trudges towards the terrified ( name ). he could feel himself smile as he watches them wrap a fuzzy blanket tightly around themselves, they reminded him of a bunny. "goomi!" they quickly opened their arms widely, welcoming the grumpy boy as he walks towards them. "( name )" he replies back, a smile on his face as he enters their welcoming arms.
"i'm sorry.." he murmured after a quick moment of eerie silence. "don't worry i handled it well." he felt a smirk grow on his face, "like cowering at the corner?" he teases. "hey!" they whined, hitting his thigh harshly but the man didn't flinch a bit, irking the other more. "are you okay?" the hesitance in his voice was clear, clearly oblivious to comforting. "now that you're here, yeah i'm doing okay." megumi grins but he hides this by burying his face at ( name )'s neck, tickling them slightly.
"you're so bad at this" they chuckle as they let megumi lay his head at the crook of their neck, using their right hand to massage his head. their back laid against the headrest, megumi's body completely dumped onto theirs. they smile a little, finding his body warmth welcoming as their left hand squeezes megumi's torso even tighter. "i'm glad i have you" they mutter silently, wishing their boyfriend didn't hear them but alas a weak reply was heard from the boy.
"me too." they blushed, embarrassed of how cheesy they had just sounded. silence filled the small room, the warmth from each other deeming as the only comfort they had as sleep overtook them slowly. the other fought the dark abyss and the other didn't, the awake one waits silently for the other to sleep, adjusting slowly so the other was comfortable.
"i... i love you" he hesitated but he let it out eventually, feeling his heart race thousands of miles as he brushes a stray hair out of their face. his arm now wrapped around their body, as he lightly kisses their forehead, his chin at the top of their head. as the night continues to lull him to sleep, he soon falls to a deep slumber. not once did he notice the blushing ( name ), their face buried into his chest as they silently mutters: "i love you too, megumi"
