Eve tapped her foot against the floor of her trailer, she had trouble breathing. It wasn't because she had her mask on but it was because she felt nervous, she was going to tell Maya she liked her more than a friend.
She was about to take her mask off to breathe a little bit better when the cranking of her trailer door happened which means Maya was coming in. Maya walked into the trailer, Eve could tell she was smiling even with the mask on.
"Hi!"
Eve waved a little bit following Maya's moves and taking her mask off now that the door was closed. Maya made herself comfortable on the couch with Eve sitting across from her. "What's up?"
Eve looked down at her fingers and played with them to calm herself. "What I'm about to tell you, you don't have to feel the same but if I don't tell you now I will never have the courage."
Maya nodded for her to keep going. "I like you, Maya, not just in a friendly way." Eve closes her eyes hoping Maya understands.
Eve looks up to see Maya's face to see that she knows what Eve is trying to say. "Oh um, I just remembered that I have something to do." Maya hurriedly puts her mask back on and walks out the trailer door the way Maya came in.
Eve doesn't move, she doesn't even shed a tear. She feels numb.
