Summary:
Before initially meeting Enola, the blooming marquess meets a girl with the name Y/N. Y/N was adventurous and determined. She was very much like Enola. Both were diligent. Unfortunately, Tewksbury and Y/N's love came to an end. Every time Tewksbury would look into Enola's eyes, he couldn't help but remember what it was like to be in love with Y/N and how much fun it was too.
━━━━━━━━━━━━
In the Basilwether hall, where two close families meet up to conceal a deal or their somewhat "proposal".
The Wellington and Tewkesbury family have been close ever since. These two families are known for their successful teamwork. To create a better and possibly a stronger bond, they make a deal. A deal that they've been planning for ages.
"Lord Tewksbury, I present to you my daughter, Y/N." Says Y/N's father.
The man slightly pushes his daughter forward for the boy to see. Y/N on the other hand was quietly listening to whatever embarrassing scene her father was possibly making.
Lady Tewkesbury decidedly joins in the conversation to lessen the awkward atmosphere.
"The two of you are getting married soon." She says, firmly. "So we need both of you to cooperate."
"So now I'm getting into forced marriage." Y/N interrupts. "Unbelievable."
To cool down everything, they decide to gather around the table and to drink tea and eat crackers.
The young marquess curiously looks around the room as everyone was chatting. He walks outside into the woods and no one even noticed.
As he walks slowly below the tall trees, he sees the girl whom he had to marry, on top of a tree; holding its trunk, standing on a branch.
"You know that branch isn't that strong." He warns. "I suggest you should go down."
The girl jumps down. "Sorry, I couldn't hear you." She says sarcastically.
Y/N walks away from the boy, maybe looking for a better tree?
"You're lucky it's me you're marrying." Tewkesbury begins. "And not just some boy." He adds, dusting off a leaf from his coat.
"Well, I suppose you are quite charming," Y/N replies from a distance.
Tewkesbury let out a chuckle, shyly sliding a strand of his brown long locks behind his ear. "Thank you."
The girl turns her head at him in disappointment. "And obviously gullible."
He looks at her with confusion then finally realized that she was just joking and testing him on how he'd actually react if she did mean he was handsome.
"I'm not entirely an idiot." He frowns.
"I didn't say that."
"Clearly, that was your point."
"But I didn't exactly say it." Y/N points out.
She stomps her feet near a tree. "This one's perfect."
Tewkesbury looks at her confusion. "What are you doing?"
He was sure that this girl in front of him never seemed regal in every way. He didn't she was too graceful and delicate. He knew that she was more on the adventure.
"A treehouse would be perfect here!"
Tewkesbury was again confused by the girl's actions. She was really different. Too different in fact for him.
"A treehouse?" he mused. "How could you possibly build a treehouse?"
Y/N ignored his query and just climbs on the tree. He left her on that tree, he just couldn't understand the huge difference between her and a normal 18th Century girl.
The sun rises another morning. The young Marquess of Basilwether is peacefully sleeping in his chamber when suddenly, small pebbles hitting his window had woken him up.
"What?" he groans, jumping out of his bed.
He walks out of his balcony and looks down to see Y/N, still in her nightgown.
"Wake up, prince charming." She yells. "The tea's getting cold."
He smiles at her, not caring if she did see him or not.
Going back inside, he fishes through his closet, seeking his most charming looking coat. He wanted to impress the girl, that's for sure.
"Good morning, uncle, mother." He says quickly. "I'll be back."
"But you haven't eaten your breakfast!" Lady Tewkesbury yells, trying to stop her son.
"What took you so long?" Y/N asked. "I've been here for ages."
The two climb up the exact same tree from yesterday. Except for this time, it was a fully built treehouse where they shared many days there together. They clearly didn't know a lot about each other. They just seemed to get along as the day passes. The marquess knew he had feelings for the girl, he didn't admit to himself at first.
The two shared interest together and that was the knowledge of flowers and herbs. Tewkesbury wasn't quite interested in those until Y/N introduced it to him. He pretty liked it and obviously learned a lot.
After a few weeks of normally spending time together, Y/N starts with a serious conversation.
"I need to tell you something." She begins. "It's something really important."
"I'm listening."
"I'm leaving for London." She sighs. "I'm too tired of living in a predictable life."
Tewkesbury takes his time and gathers his thoughts. Thinking why now? Why has the one thing that finally made him happy leaving? Y/N was the only one that gets him out of bed early in the morning. She was the only thought in his head. He loved her.
"W-why?" he stutters.
"I just told you."
She moves closer to him, cupping his face. "Find me when you're ready." She says, handing him a book.
He scribbles through it until he found flower pressings placed on a page that said; "Covent Flower Garden"
