First Sights

Megatron -

It had been weeks since any sort of progress had been made on this case, or any case regarding any disappearances in the last century in your town. Yet that didn't seem to sway (Y/N) as she walked through the same sector of the woods for the 57th time. The detective just couldn't let it go, not because of stubbornness, but because she couldn't bare to tell another family that one of their members was gone for good again.

The strangest thing in these cases was that there was never any sort of pattern. Young and old, girl and boy, mean and kind, they were taken at random. The location didn't seem to matter either, some were taken at night in their own homes, some while they were walking home, and others in public places or even their own car! It made her antsy, and (Y/N) wanted to know why this was all happening. There had to be a logical reason to all of this!

While her thoughts racing around, her foot stumbled over a rock which cast those thoughts out of her mind as she realized it wasn't just a rock. It was actually apart of uneven terrain that lead to a greenery-covered cave. The cave itself would've been unnoticeable if it hadn't been for (Y/N) not looking where she was going, and it wasn't even on the map in her hands. She may have just discovered the best and only lead in this case!

(Y/N) scurried into the cave, hopping that the twins she was currently looking for might've been in there. Otherwise, (Y/N) may have found another reason why people disappeared without reason here. The pathways in the cave got quick dark, so she had to put away your flashlight and bring out the lantern she brought with her as it would light up more areas. Which was what you would want for others to come near you.

Though as (Y/N) walked, the feeling of something watching her, eyeing her almost like a figurine someone desperately wanted in their collection. It was sending shivers down her spine as (Y/N) entered a cavern covered in weirdly colored webs that covered the entire cavern. (Y/N) had started walking over to one when her foot got caught in some webbing she hadn't seen. Luckily, it was no big deal, she had a knife on her. But there was a big deal when (Y/N) heard metal on rock, almost like footsteps, coming towards the area she was in. She turned and screamed at the sight of the brown robotic monster shuffling towards her.

"Nonononononono!" She yanked at her caught foot, panic setting in as she frantically cut at the webs. But her knife did nothing to help free herself as the beast came even closer.

The body was huge with its legs bent at odd angles, somehow supporting it. The angle of the legs seemed to make its back hunch over, like a predator on the hunt. But the worse and most terrifying part of the creature was its face, (Y/N) had never seen anything like it before. Its face had a long red line that wrapped around the front part of it, acting like an eye. There were four cylindrical metal rods that seemed like mandibles of sorts that clicked in a sort of speech as the beast neared.

Upon hearing (Y/N)'s screams, more and more of the creatures started to come into the cavern as well, loud and numerous shuffling could be heard all over as the walls began to shake. It was gentle at first, but became more and more violent as more joined in. All the sudden movement in the walls made the roof, weakened by decades of trees and plants growing on and in it, start to fall apart.

Yet in the middle of it all, somehow (Y/N) stayed alive. No rocks managed to hit her directly, but (Y/N)'s oxygen would be growing less by the hour and she was close to passing out already from how late it was and the shock of the whole ordeal. But before the rocks had begun to fall to the floor, moonlight from the now absent roof had struck something silver behind the beast. Whatever it was, (Y/N) didn't know and didn't want to find out.
