(IM BACK BABYYYYY, on a side note:
quite a few people have found this book now, so hello dream simps!! just a friendly reminder to eat and stay hydrated. you're loved <3)
———(y/n) woke up feeling warm, stretching their arms out as they opened their eyes to see an unfamiliar bed. 'oh right, i was at clay's house,' they thought while looking around. the tall man was nowhere to be found in the room, and (y/n) was tempted to just lay down and go back to sleep. they decided against it though, standing up to see clay's baggy hoodie from yesterday swamp their body. wow, there was a height difference all right.
they yawned and stretched out, walking into the kitchen to see the two cats eating what they assumed to be breakfast. clay was nowhere to be seen yet, but (y/n) couldn't help but notice a keurig and get distracted. after they had a nice warm cup of coffee in their hands they once again went looking for clay. gentle steps were taken upstairs as they sipped at the hot coffee, gently knocking on the closed door of the gaming room. some shuffling could be heard before clay called out, "come in!" he said, inviting the sleepy person in.clay was sitting at his desk, his setup done and reorganized. the tape was also peeled off the walls, it was a nice finish (y/n) decided. the tall man couldn't help but stare for a moment, taking in how baggy his hoodie was on them. how adorable they looked holding one of his favorite mugs and sipping away at the warm coffee. their hair messy, a dopey smile on their face. "am i interrupting something?" they asked, shuffling into the room and sitting in a spare chair nearby.
"just editing and talking to george, nothing at all." dream smiled, watching them once more as they span in a circle. he heard the calls of his friend through his headphones, turning back to his work and unmuting. he talked to george and worked on editing, (y/n) now sitting silently and watching. coffee was drank and an empty mug was sat down, leaving a tired (y/n) who was watching dream work in editing.
said man couldn't help but think over his thoughts, debating things for a moment. they had met only a few days ago, yet already they had grown so close. they painted, had dinner, cuddled last night. christ, they're in his hoodie right now. he's really gotten himself in it now. they were friends is what clay kept telling himself.eventually after (y/n) had fully woken up they gathered their things, explaining they had some cleaning at home they needed done. they agreed to talk later, and (y/n) would text when they got home safely. and there they and octo went, driving home safely. they kept their promise, texting the tall man before going to take a shower.
'why were things going by so quickly?' they asked themselves, going about the house and cleaning after their shower. even after the house was spotless and octo was fed (y/n) was still thinking of the man. they found themselves gravitating towards their computer, settling in the chair with their cat in their lap like normal.'wanna start a survival world?' was the message dream received from (y/n), pausing his conversation with sapnap and george. 'bedwars with sap and george?' was his reply, grinning whenever (y/n) said that was okay. 'george is live, is that okay?' he added, announcing that he was adding them to the call after they said it was fine. remarks were made by sapnap and george, but nothing was hinted at about their relationship. or, what relationship there was.
"hellloooo," rang the soft voice of (y/n) as they joined, george's chat sent into a frenzy. "THANK YOU!! finally we can be carried and not dragged down by dream!" shouted sapnap, getting noises of protest from said green man. "chat says hi, (y/n)." george said as he invited them to their party for bedwars. "hiii chat! i hope everyone is doing lovely tonight," they said, smiling sweetly even though it couldn't be seen. "now, who's ready to be carried?" (y/n) finished with a chuckle, watching as they loaded into the bedwars game.and carry they did, helping their team get almost back to back wins. while they weren't good at close range pvp, (y/n) was very sneaky and could easily make it into the other bases to destroy the beds. dream carried them in the pvp aspect while george and sapnap made very good defenders and distractions. overall the group had a good dynamic, chat picked up on that pretty quickly.
the group continued casual conversation throughout their final game, all three friends who weren't streaming saying their goodbyes as george ended stream. "have you ever considered streaming? youtube?" sapnap quickly asked after george confirmed stream was ended. "yeah (y/n), chat really loved you." george added, supporting sapnap encouraging them to stream. (y/n) was unsure, glancing down at their lap to pet the sleeping cat that had hardly moved while playing. "oh, uh... i'm not sure honestly, i wouldn't mind joining in more streams?" they stated, questioning if they really would. "i just have a good job, and i'm happy where—" they were cut off by a wheeze from dream, who started cackling. "(y/n) is trending on twitter!" he said happily, looking at the '#(y/n)carries' hashtag. "unknown friend '(y/n)' is in the spotlight after carrying their streaming friends in the minecraft game bedwars." he read the description, getting a snort from george. "they did not carry!!" george exclaimed, rolling his eyes.
sapnap took this as his chance to hop on the hype train, posting a quick tweet.sapnap2

carried. 😎everyone on call burst out laughing at the thread, watching as chaise ensued with replies from the fans. (y/n) paid little attention, already turning their phone off to ignore the sure to come hate tweets. george yawned and said his goodbyes, leaving the call to go and sleep. it was late there after all. "i've got some homework to do, i'll leave you love birds be." sapnap said with a grin, saying his goodbyes as well. "you did amazing," dream spoke up over the silence that settled over the call.
nothing about the silence was uncomfortable, just two people enjoying the company of the other. "thank you, you weren't bad yourself." (y/n) teased, clicking around a few things on their monitor. "do you want to move to a private vc?" clay asked, getting a hun of approval from (y/n).the two settled in their own dm call, chatting mindlessly as they opened up a creative world together. clay changed his game mode to survival and went off on a practice speedrun, chatting to (y/n) who started to build a house at spawn. "how are you so good at speed running?" they asked, humming softly to a song that was playing on spotify. "i dunno, i guess i just play minecraft so often." he replied, focused on looting the village he was in. "i never really played it for building, i mean i've had a few survival worlds. but it was always pvp in servers or trying to beat the game." (y/n) listened along, nodding even though clay couldn't see. "see, i've played bedwars plenty. i enjoy building, i just don't think i'd be any decent at doing things quickly." they spoke up, explaining their view on things. "i like to take games slow, enjoy the updates and such as they come."
they settled into silence after a while, conversation dying down. clay joined them after beating the dragon, building a sad excuse of a horse stable nearby their cottage type house. conversation of the smp was brought up, (y/n) explaining they wouldn't want to join it. they wanted to keep it the way it was, roleplaying never really was their thing. they did agree to watch the streams whenever they weren't working though, clay explaining that he played a part in writing the script as well.eventually it started getting late, around 10 by the time (y/n) had changed from their computer to phone. they had already made a sandwich for dinner, listening to clay talk on and on about the chances in speedrunning as they ate. now they were laying in bed, listening to the keyboard clicks on clay's end. "does patches miss me yet?" they asked softly, listening to the little chuckle on the other end. "i think she misses octo more," clay joked back softly, quieting down again to listen to their laughter. "do you think it'll snow? man, do i wanna see the snow." (y/n) tailed on, their words becoming slurred by their tiredness. "would you want to go see the snow together?" the blonde haired man asked, a brave question to get a gentle hum back. he chuckled softly, listening to their breaths slow down and even out. "hey, (y/n)?" he asked in barely a whisper, only getting noises of shuffling in response.
he had hoped they set an alarm to wake up for work tomorrow.
