I thanked Amanda and pecked Dreck on the cheek, walking out of the house I called my second home. My mouth forms into an 'o' shape when I see a familiar burst of red hair, eerily similar to mine. I clear my throat as I straddle my motorbike. "Hello." I say cooly, starting up the bike. 8371 matched my position, wrinkling her nose slightly at me.
"You'll need to come with me Miss Brennan." 8371 pursed her lips, not so subtlety pulled out a pair of shiny silver handcuff's. I scoffed and revved my motorbike.
"Will those really be necessary?" I mock, flipping my hair over my shoulder, and letting out a short pitying sigh. She rolls my eyes and waves them in front of my face.
"Only if you don't co-operate." 8371 matches my tone, starting up her own bike and pulling onto the road. I follow her grudgingly, squinting through the wind as a large white looming building came into view. Unintentionally my bottom lip curls into a snarl as we park on one of the curbs, I hop off the bike and brush myself down, shoving my hands in my pockets.
"Why am I here?" I mutter to her as we walk down the pathway.
"I'm not in the liberty to tell you that. I advise you leave the questions for 0." My whole body tenses when I hear the single digit number, my hands clenching into fists. We jog up the stairs and slip into the building where another three Peacemaker's meet us. I roll my eyes when they take formation, two at the front and two at the back - 'completely secure.' Two large wooden doors opened with a loud creak to reveal the plainest looking office... ever. 0 sat behind his desk, several guards dotted around the room.
"Seattle Brennan. What an absolute pleasure." He growls, standing up and ushering me to sit down. I let out a bark of laughter and sit, crossing my legs and arms.
"What the hell do you want?" I snap, meeting his hard gaze. 0 lets out a loud series of tut's and I roll my eyes.
"Patience Miss Brennan. We just needed to have a little discussion with you. I'm sure you're aware of our monitoring system?" He starts pacing around the room, adjusting a trophy here and there. I let out a big sigh and nod.
"Yes of course. Which I have always found extremely creepy just fyi." In the corner of my eye I see 8371 shaking her head slightly and I have to resist the urge to laugh.
"Well. Your monitoring has a few... issues. Were you aware of this?" He circles back around the room and leans forward on his desk. I purse my lips and lean forward as well.
"Does it look like I was aware of this?" I hiss, scoffing before leaning back. 0 simply raises on eyebrow and leans back as well.
"There is just a pinch of too much rebellion in your, let's put it, very unique mixture." His face turns into a sneer and he slams his hands on the table. "And I think you know better than anyone else how much us Peacemaker's hate rebellion." I tense and shut my eyes for a split second, pushing the thought away.
"Of course. I will work on that. Is that all? Because I really have to get back home to feed the four starving children waiting for me." I stand up without waiting for an answer and storm out the door, ignoring the light and quick footsteps of 8371 behind me. I trace back my steps easily and get onto my motorbike, raising an eyebrow to 8371 who had her hand out to me, a small plastic bag in it.
"It's for the rebellious side of you. Take one a day." She stated, placing it in my hand, then briskly walking away. I looked down at the small plastic bag and took a peek inside of it, my throat closing up when I saw what was inside. A dozen yellow pills.
