The following morning after breakfast they headed towards London, Callie made sure Charles and George had enough to eat for the day. They would be back the following day. Riyad had people to see. Doctor for her and meetings for him.
Arriving into the city of London just over two hours later, she was driven straight to Harley Street to see Riyad's doctor, who was pleased with her recovery finding no lasting after-effects.
"You were a very lucky young lady."
"I know," she breathed. "If it wasn't for Riyad, I don't know what would have happened."
"Yes," he agreed. "He is fully trained in such things."
Her eyes widened. "Really? He is trained as a doctor?"
"No, survival, and what to do in an emergency." Thoughtfully, she nodded. Also intrigued. Why would he be trained in such things? Where did he come from? None of her business, yet there was so much he kept hidden. Why? Boss, employee, she reminded herself.
"Thank god," she smiled, slipping off the doctor's bed. "It was good of you to see me at such short notice. I know how busy you doctors are." It took over a week to book in to see her normal doctor.
"I can always fit you in, my dear," he smiled. Really? Because of Riyad? Who was he really? Money, mansion, and doctors on call. The mind boggled. Aunt Em had said she had no idea who she was dealing with. She could see that now. To be truthful he never abused his power. He was clear in what he wanted. They were paid for it, having no idea how much but she could sense it. With a spring in her step, Callie bounced into the waiting room, where Riyad was on his phone that he shut down at the sight of her.
"And?"
"I'm good," she piped in. The doctor nodded behind her, then strode past her towards Riyad and they headed towards a quiet corner and talked privately. Callie crossed over towards the reception desk, seeing about paying. The one behind the desk was startled, closing down her expression quickly.
"The matter has been seen to."
"But I have money," she stated waving a card. Why should he pay? The receptionist looked across towards Riyad, who crossed over, claiming Callie's arm.
"Already seen to."
"But."
"You are not a part of the medical system. Do you have travel insurance?" She blinked at him. "As I thought."
"I will pay you back," she said softly.
"Later, not here," he advised. She nodded, smiling at the receptionist. "Thank you, I didn't want to put you in an awkward position."
"No harm was done," she smiled.
Riyad claimed her hand that swelled her heart, yet told herself not to see anything in it. He had to leave as they rushed out and headed towards the parked car, back on his phone. Once in the car, he switched to a Bluetooth and tapped, speaking softly in a foreign language as she sat quietly, looking out the window, taking in the views, guessing at the sights. Some were very familiar as well known sights, on the news, media, and movies.
Melbourne was a piss-ant to this as they drove through the city, buildings so tall beyond the horizon. The winding river. Big Ben. The tower of London. Houses of Parliament. Did she hope they would pass BuckinghamPalace?
The Eye - a big circle in the skies. Taking it all in. Mind-blown. She had missed the city, flown in, and headed straight out once she collected her car, heading for the country. She loved this, nothing like this in her hometown in Tassie.
