15TH SEPTEMBER 4:44PM
—
Rain fell heavily down that late afternoon, making you relieved Denki grabbed his umbrella before leaving for school. You hadn't been so smart, only grabbing your raincoat on the way out. Your own umbrella left to fester in its designated place back home.
Denki had so kindly allowed you to share his when you met him at the train station, midway between UA and your school. The pair of you had planned to spend the evening at his, both itching to see each other again as soon as possible. Though had you predicted his offer to share his umbrella would lead to cramping yourself up against him in a struggle to stay dry, you would have definitely grabbed your umbrella earlier. Sure, you could have sucked it up and simply put up your hood, but Denki was so determined on his generosity you could hardly say no.
To say the least, when you finally reached Denki's apartment complex you couldn't have been more pleased.
Denki's apartment was much different to what you imagined it to be. Whilst his bedroom reeked of regular teenage boy stuff, the rest of his living space was surprisingly quite smart and kept together. Upon first glance of the entrance hall, you half expected a woman reaching her mid-twenties to own the place.
You were greeted with beige painted walls and simple wooden furniture with a lighter varnish garnished over the top. A few plants hung on both sides of the walls, patterned between ferns and leafy plants you didn't know the name of. Then, stood on the chest of drawers down the hall was a beautifully bloomed Peace Lily. The decor caught you by surprise, not taking Denki as someone to show such interest in plants. As Denki performed his usual routine of removing his school things, you simply dawdled by the door, curiously eyeing the hall ahead.
"You can just hang your things on the spare hook here," Denki gradually said, noticing that you seemed a little lost. He kindly stepped over and took your school bag off of you when you shrugged it off - smiling gently before hanging it up. You proceeded to take off your coat as he did so, smile growing as the seconds passed. "It's normally Mom's hook but she's out right now,"
"Is she why there are so many plants?" You responded with a light laugh, nodding your head towards where you'd been looking. "Or are you secretly a plant fanatic?" Denki rolled his eyes at your joke, shaking his head in amusement.
"No, I'm not a plant fanatic. Those are my Mom's," He explained. "She's always liked having them, but they're all kept high up because Mocha will eat them otherwise," He paused to laugh over the memory in his head. "One time she knocked over five in one night, the mess the next morning was awful,"
