INTRODUCTION: “Layla! Come over here!” Makenzy shouted to me from across the room. Makenzy is my best friend. I had been staying at her house since my parents got a divorce. I couldn’t stand them anymore. I walked over to where her voice was coming from to see her sitting on the floor in front of the TV. On the screen in flashing colors was Louis Tomlinson and the rest of the One direction Boys. Louis was my childhood best friend. I had known him for my whole entire life. He was like a brother I never had. He was the one who I had been in love with all these years. He was my Lou. We never dated or anything crazy but we were that kind of best friends that everyone was jealous of. And when he tried out for X factor I was there for him and was with him everyday. But when he became part of the band, i was shut out from his life. Never to hear from him again. I stood there in the entry way, frozen, staring blankly at my old best friend. His blue eyes glowing in the HD as he sung his solo in the One Thing music video. “why are they playing this on TV?” I asked Makenzy. “Because they just hit  1 million viewers on it!” she squealed her eyes still glued to the TV. She liked One direction. She had a thing for Harry. The cheeky curly haired one. I couldn’t blame her though, he had an amazing smile. But I hadn’t bothered to learn much about them because of Louis. It hurt seeing him completely forget about me. Forget about us.

Chapter 1: I stood in the doorway. My arms crossed as I watched those five boys run and dance on the screen, having the time of their lives. I saw Louis dance with a women on the street. And for some reason, it brought back memories. Memories of us walking through town and making friends with the randomest of people. We would make them smile by giving them little compliments. A tear fell down my cheek as I leaned against the wall. I wiped it away with the sleeve of my sweater. The video ended as it switched to the news. The boys were live in an interview. “Come watch Layla, please?” Makenzy begged finally looking away from the TV to look at me, giving me the puppy dog eyes. I gave in and took a seat on the cream colored couch behind her, curling up in a ball as I watched my childhood flash before me once again. The interviewer asked normal questions and they all answered. But one question caught my attention. The interviewer asked the boys what their favorite child hood memory was. I was practically Louis’s whole entire childhood. I perked up waiting to see if he would say something, see if he remembered, if he cared. But he looked to the floor and bit his lip. I knew that face. He did that when he was thinking, and confused, sometimes worried. Zayn, Liam, and Niall and said there favorites but before Louis or harry could speak, there was a high pitched sound and crackling camera as it shook, you could hear breaking glass in the background and suddenly the screen went black.

Chapter 2: the whole entire room was silent for a few moments.  Neither I or Makenzy spoke or moved. We just sat there our eyes still glued to the television, praying that it would somehow come back. Makenzy broke the silence by saying, “what happened?” still staring at the TV. I didn’t answer her I just watched the scribbles or fuzzy black and white lines as the TV  made the wretched cracking noise that I hated. But right now I didn’t mind. What happened to Louis was all I wanted to know. Kenzy got up and turned off the TV looking confused, and saddened. Neither of us got to hear from the boy we wanted to. Makenzy was the only one who knew about Louis, and I wanted it to stay that way… I think. But what if he forgot about me? Was I important to him anymore? Was I even existent in his mind? I don’t think I ever went a day without thinking of him, wondering if he ever thought of me. He probably didn’t. I am just a nobody to him now. I went to the guest room where I was staying in Makenzy’s flat, and pulled out my duffle bag. I opened the side pouch with tears in my eyes, and pulled out a colorful box. It was the box that I had filled with pictures, and memories of Louis and me. Kneeling on the floor I pulled out a picture of when we were 6 and I dressed up in my princess dress and he was in a knight costume. I remember him telling me that day, “I’ll always be my knight in shining armor Lay, whenever you need me ill be there.” The tears were flowing down my cheeks like a waterfall now as I leaned up against the wall and stared at my beautiful Louis.
