Apartment Hunting

Y/N's POV
I get up and stretch after the plane lands. Duke slides out into the aisle and grabs our carry on bags.

"It was really nice meeting you Y/N" he smiles.

"You too Duke! Hopefully I'll see you around LA sometime" I cringe knowing how desperate I must sound to him. We exit the plane and I find my mom already waiting for me in the airport. I wave excitedly and run over to her and we head out to start looking for apartments.

"So who was that cutie you walked out with?" She was doing the wiggly eyebrows. I could feel myself turning red.

"Mom no. Please don't. His name is Duke, but I will probably never see him again LA is huge." The thought of this makes me upset, but I don't have time to be upset. Today is a busy day. We arrive at the first apartment but immediately something feels off, so we quickly move onto the second which turns into the third and eventually it seems like we've seen every apartment LA has to offer. We pull up one last listing and it looks beautiful. It has a beautiful view of the city,  it's on the 15th floor, the windows are huge, it seems perfect.

You walk in and get the grand tour and decide this is the one. This is your home for the next four years. You sign the lease and head back to the airport. A week passes by before you know it and your hugging your family bye until Thanksgiving. Your car is packed full and you back out of your driveway and wave bye one last time before you hit the road.

You pull into the parking garage in front of your new apartment and go upstairs and take a look around. It's empty. It's huge. You walk back down to your car and start grabbing boxes and stacking them in your living room. After what seems like a million trips you finally have everything inside. You start unpacking boxes, putting dishes in the kitchen cabinets, the boxes of clothes in your room, you don't have any furniture just yet, but with as much stuff as you have to unpack it doesn't seem like you'll need it tonight anyways. It was getting late so you decided dinner would be the best option.

Y/N's POV
I threw on something comfortable and walked out the door I heard another door shut across the hall and looked over and it was Duke. "Oh my god should I say something or act like I didn't just see him?" I shut my door and started walking towards the elevator. He had just walked in and part of me wanted to catch the next one, but part of me wanted to catch up and speak. He was looking down as his phone and right as I walked in he looked up.

"Oh my god Y/N hey!" He said with a huge smile on his face.

"Hey Duke! What are you doing here?"

"Well I live here. Fifteenth floor!" He says still smiling.

"This is so crazy I just moved in on the fifteenth floor. I was just on my way to grab dinner." I said hoping he was picking up the hint that he should come with me.

"Well that's funny because I was also heading out to grab dinner. You name the place and we'll go." He looks so happy when he said it I couldn't help but blush a little.

"I say we get chipotle! I haven't been in AGES." You practically whine. Duke laughs at you and by this time you're walking down the street towards the restaurant. You order your food and sit a table outside and watch the cars go down the street.

"So what are you going to school for?"

"Oh I'm going for psychology with a masters in social work!" You beam from excitement.

"So you love helping people huh?"

"I do. It's something I've wanted to do since I was little. It's hard to explain" You shyly. "What brought you to LA?"

"Well I wanted to broaden my career. Moving to LA has been a huge dream for me for a while now. So now I'm finally here getting to do what I love. Create." You can't help but notice the innocence in his voice when he speaks. He sounds so full of life and so grateful to be here. You get lost in the words he's saying and just stare into his eyes. After you finish up the conversation he invites you over to his apartment and you eagerly take him up on the offer.
