The surprise

Hermione's POV:

Ok, it's been 1 week since the last time I talked to Malfoy.  Earlier today he sent me an owl letter, saying that Luna was going to take me shopping for a dress, but if I happened to not find one that he would get me one himself.   Fast forward, it’s Friday and I only have 20 minutes until I get out of work, and I have to go shopping with Luna. I’m nervous and excited to go to the ball and to see Ronald’s face when Draco and I announce our relationship, especially since Ron hates him, I mean so does Harry, but he forgave him after the war and became friends with Blaise and Theo; but he is friendly with Draco so that's all could hope for I guess. 20 minutes have passed, so I pack my stuff and meet Luna at her house, she lives only one block from my work. When I got there she almost immediately stands up, gives Theo a kiss goodbye and basically pushes me out the door. “ Hermione, we need to go to “frandsupans. It's a really nice dress place for balls and things like that. It’s only a 15 minute walk from here okay?” Luna states, but her intonation sounded like a question to me, so I simply replied,  “ yeah, ok that sounds good.” After 15 minutes of strenuous walking, we finally made it to the store and the clothing looked so expensive! I asked Luna how we are going to pay for the dress, and what if we don't have enough money.  But she simply stated that Draco let her know previous to the occasion to put  whatever we choose on his card.  I pondered the thought of “A dress for me, on Draco? Hmm, I”ll rack his card up for the hell of it!” I said ok and we started looking for dresses. We were there for over 2 hours and we thought we were never going to find dresses that we liked and that looked good on us! But suddenly as we were preparing to leave, the perfect dresses appeared before us, and it so happened to be in our sizes!  So we tried them on and they looked perfect!  Draco and Theo won't know what hit them. We paid for my dress with Draco's card and for Luna’s with Theos card.  After our purchases, we hurriedly and excitedly left for Luna’s  (Hermione, lunas, and Ginny's gowns)

We stayed at Luna's house that night.  Luna forced Theo to stay at Dracos because she wanted him to be surprised when he first saw her.  It's currently 11:00am and the party starts at 7:00pm,  so we have about 8 hours to get ready.  I reached for the telephone and called Ginny, I told her to meet us at Lunas and that I would explain the details of my non-existent infidelity.  She thankfully agreed and said she'll meet us exactly in 1 hour, no sooner, no later, so that gave me and Luna and hour to wait and mentally prepare for our discussion.  An hour passed and we heard a knock at the door! I opened the door and saw Ginny’s lack of enthusiasm on her pale face.  She had her dress in one hand and her make-up bag in the other. She looked at me and she didn't show any emotion, but when she saw Luna she smiled and hugged her. “ Ginny, can we talk now?” I asked. “ no'' Ginny stated plainly “ oh come on Ginny stop this nonsense and talk to her!'' Luna told her, and Ginny said okay. After we talked, she said sorry for not believing me and that she can’t contain her excitement about the inevitable surprise we have for everyone.  We all did our make up, then our hair. Then we ate, and changed into our dresses . It's now 7:00pm and our dates sent us a carriage, and said they would meet us there. The carriage took us to the Zimbanies home where the party was taking place. When we arrived, the carriage stopped in a hurry, and Draco, Harry, and Theo were there waiting for us. They opened the door and took our hands. First it was Theo, he grabbed Luna's hand and helped her out of the carriage, then it was Harry he grabbed Ginny's hand and kissed her cheek as he helped her out of the carriage, and lastly was Draco, he grabbed my hand and interlinked his arm with mine. As we all walked into the home Draco whispered in my ear, “ Wow, Granger don't you look good!” Hermione replied with a nervous laugh, “Thanks Malfoy you don't look so bad yourself” and felt the hot blood rush to my cheeks, trying to hide the fact that I was blushing. We walked into the ballroom, it was huge! We noticed a chandelier hanging off the ceiling in the center of the room.  It was beautiful and bright, but also had dark tones, which I thought was magnificent.  I felt at ease and at peace at the thought of finally revealing my ever so hidden feelings I’ve carried for Draco. 

We all were ushered to the dining hall, with hunger and thirst on our minds.  The table was at least 10 feet in length and 6 feet in width.  We all sat in our assigned seats and I patiently, but politely asked the waiter when the food will be served.  To that, he replied “Ma’am, the orderves will be served after Draco’s surprise.”  I looked up and saw Draco across from me, he dabbed his face with a napkin that was placed on the table.  He looked up at me and gave me a sly grin, pushed back his chair, grabbed his wine glass and a spoon and headed to the stairs so everyone could see him.  As he stood there, he tapped the glass with his spoon and everyone looked up at him.  He cleared his throat and began his speech, “Hello everyone, I..I’m sure you all are wondering why we’re here for this extravagant event.  I’m here to tell you and confirm that I’ve been in a relationship with someone close to my heart and that I’ve known for quite some time.  She’s here with us tonight! Hermione, can you come up here and share a few words about us?”  Hermione stood up, pushed her chair back, and walked towards Draco.  They stood side-by-side and said, “the rumors are true!” She took Draco’s hand in hers as she continued, “We are indeed in a relationship, and I don’t regret leaving Ron.  I’m confident that we will win Best Couple in the Wizarding World!” Just as she leaned in to kiss Draco, Ron burst in the dining hall.

He grabbed his wand in a hurry, aimed it towards Draco, and belted out “Expelliarmus!”
