When You Still Love Him But You Were Never His Priority

Part 1

Do you regret it? No. Are you happy for him? Yes. Then why are you feeling downcast and hurt?

You were staring at the man that played a big role in your life, especially high school. His eyes. His smiles. His laughs. Everything about him, you missed it. Truth be told, you missed him.

He came into your life when you were both in high school. He is your first love and your first heartbreak. You just smiled thinking about the memories from the past that you shared with him. This man sitting in front of you holds a special place in your heart, but he's no longer yours.

"Y/N," your best friend Mina nudged you. "You're staring at Taehyung again," she said as she handed you another full beer mug. You never wanted to attend this so-called high school reunion but Mina insisted. She wanted to catch up with a few old friends and she would like you to do the same. She thought that this could help with the loneliness you were feeling.

"I'm so sorry," she spoke as she lowered her head. "I didn't know that he's going to come. And he's with his girlfriend."

"It's alright Mina," you gave her a small smile. "You didn't do anything wrong. Besides we're here to meet some of our old friends."

"You're right," your best friend beamed and stood up to go to the restroom. Out of nowhere, someone asked you, "How about you Han Y/N, aren't you seeing someone right now?" It was Park Jimin. Taehyung's mischievous best friend. He knew about you and Taehyung's past. He was sitting on Taehyung's left side, while the woman Taehyung brought with him was on his right. Immediately, all heads turned to you. You were so shy to respond, luckily Mina came back and she responded for you, "She is." Your best friend confidently said as your eyes went wide. What is she doing? You thought.

"She's dating a handsome man, right Y/N?" Mina continued with her bluffing. She gave you this look that was telling you to go along with her, so you did. "Yeah," you nodded your head. She smiled and said, "Cheers to my best friend who finally found the love of her life!" She held up her beer, while you did the same thing. Soon, everybody tagged along and spoke in chorus, "We are so happy for you Y/N!"

Little did you know, the man sitting across you clenched his fist. He was fuming with anger but he did his best to hold it in. But he was also confused. Why would hearing the news about you dating someone will make him annoyed? He should be happy for you right?

Your best friend Mina noticed Taehyung silently gritting his teeth and she proudly whispered to you, "I think he still likes you."

"What?" You leaned closer to your best friend as the crowd was too noisy with all the chit-chats going everywhere.

"No," she slowly shook her head while smiling adoringly, "Kim Taehyung is still not over you. I think he still loves you."

You blinked your eyes several times and said, "Mina, you're drunk. I think we should go home now."

"Nooooooo..." She whined and that confirms it. Mina is drunk. You bid goodbye to your old friends from high school, also to Taehyung and his girl before dragging Mina along with you.

On the other hand, Taehyung can't keep his mind off of you. As soon as you disappeared, he wondered, will you be able to get home safely?

"Taehyung," the woman sitting beside him spoke. "I'll be back," he excused himself and left the table.

Taehyung and you were so happy back then. You were his, and he was yours. You thought he was the one for you but you soon found out that he was cheating on you with his ex. He was still not over her at that time. You chose not to hold grudge against him and let him go. He was surprised to see that you were still calm after all the things he had done, it was just that, you didn't want to stress about it. You were just thankful that he came into your life and him coming in and leaving your life, taught you a lesson.
