It was just another day

The curtains were closed, but it wouldn't be much brighter

even if they were open.

What little light entered my drafty room

was white,

so

white

It was blinding

Like the walls

Empty

like my hope

I picked up my morning coffee,

took a long sip

but my drowsiness stuck around

as I walked to the stairs

Just one more,

I told myself

*cough*

step,

*cough*

step,

*cough*

step,

I put my hand up to my forehead.

it was heavy

and hot

I sighed

it was even hard to walk downstairs

I shouldn't have gone

to bingo night at the nursing home

where it started from

one

one person's sneeze

and became everyone's disease

We should've stayed

at home

so the hospitals have enough space

for the sick

and 'flatten the curve'

I have no idea

what that means

but some just didn't bother listening

steepening the curve

it's not just their loss

it's about the thousands

that come from theirs

I only wished I was young

but then again,

who didn't?

At least they're safe from
