Setting: Paris France (6/17) 6:32 am
As I wake up and drink my daily cup of coffee I usually read the daily newspaper. Usually nothing catches my eye, just a couple murder cases, a few advertised cars and a few new laws that won't affect me but today was different. I received a phone call. Apparently the "Black Square" a painting of LITERALLY of a black square has been stolen out of the Louvre. It was at the Louvre from Leningrad Russia for its yearly polishing to keep it in its perfect condition. And despite the lack of artistic ambiance it's priceless painting and the police don't know how the thief got in or out. But a note stating "that the "Black Square" will only be recovered if they can find it" was found. The security cameras also did not catch anything because the power had been cut to the building before the burglary but what was most odd was that the letter left at the scene was signed with an upside down heart with a slash through it. My job, my career, my life is on the line now. It was my job to secure that paintings safety, and God forbid if I find the person who did it.I'm currently an agent at the French DST (Department of Territorial Safety) which is the equivalent to the American FBI but right now I spend my days doing small jobs like making sure things are delivered safe. Even though I am just 25 and "to young" I can figure out more modern cases that are not old school. As I arrive to my office I stop in to talk to Dr. Gabriel Jós (the head of the DST) and he said "I took a risk
hiring you at the DST, and your mistake can and will public uproar with me taking the heat. Russia needs the painting back within days before they becomes public, so I've made a few phone calls and you will start with your new partner tomorrow."
