"I must be dreaming again. I have to be dreaming. This can't be real," I whispered to myself as I looked over the edge of the roof of the 20 story building I was standing on. "This can't be real, so that means I can ju-"
"NO!" Stephanie appeared behind me and grabbed my shoulder and smacked me.
"Do you have a death wish kid? Are you suicidal? Because you know when you kill yourself, you go straight to hell and honestly that just isn't where you wanna be, I mean the conditions are terrible, there's no worker union, the coffee machine is broken, and not to mention the air conditioning hasn't worked since 321 A.D. Also,-"
"Stephanie! Stop talking! You said I have wings which means I can fly. I don't remember coming up here actually but it must be a sign that I should fly so here goes nothing." Before Stephanie gets a chance to stop me, I jump over the edge. I'm not sure what I was expecting to happen, but whatever it was, didn't happen. Instead of my beautiful wings opening and sending me away in the sky, I plummeted. The ground was getting closer and closer and I wasn't flying, I was falling. Maybe I wasn't dreaming. Well, there goes my life.
I hit the ground with a thundering crack that made my entire body jump up from the bed I was lying in. I was suddenly lying in my bed that was damp with my sweat. Cool, I was dreaming!
"You're still an idiot," Stephanie said as she was standing in the doorway of my bedroom eating another apple. The sun was shining behind her and it illuminated her hair like a fire. This was the first time I had seen her in a short sleeved shirt and I realized she had a sleeve tattoo, Well, that was expected for Satan's daughter. She looked at me and rolled her eyes as she heard my thoughts.
"Can you knock first next time? And how about you stay out of my dreams," I said as I walked out of my bed and into my bathroom to brush my teeth. I flinched at my reflection in the mirror because my hair looked a mess and there was dried slob on my face. Wow I need to work on my sleeping habits.
"Once again, it isn't my choice to be in your dreams! You put me there. I just had to read the script and play along however you wanted me to play, which, by the way, is not fair and you should probably think about recasting for your dreams because I quit!" Stephanie stepped into the bathroom with me and looked at my reflection in the mirror with me. Another emotion flashed across her face but before I could identify it, it disappeared again. When I had finished brushing my teeth, I looked up in the mirror one last time and saw that Stephanie was actually taller than me. I was only 5'8" and she seemed to be an inch taller.
"Shrimp," she laughed as she walked out of the bathroom.
"Okay why are you here? Is there something you would... like?" I glance at the bed and back at her with a smirk.
"If you ever make a sex reference with me again, I will let the demons rape you in hell." she said with a cruel stare. "Anyways, I'm here to tell you to get ready because we have some prearation to do before Sunday."
"What's going on Sunday? Are we going to chu- oh wait."
"Haha, very funny," she rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't want to go there even if I could. No, we're going to dinner with my father Sunday. I told him I was dating and he wants to meet you. This way you get to see what you're going up against and you gain his trust so he doesn't suspect a thing when you defeat him."
"YOU SIGNED ME UP FOR A DINNER DATE WITH SATAN ON THE LORD'S DAY??"
"Umm.. yeah. Could you not scream? Thanks. Now put some clothes on that aren't too heavy and join me in your car when you're ready."
"Ugh, fine. Did you feed Professor Jenkins when you came in today?"
"Do I look like a vet to you?"
I rolled my eyes as she walked out of my room and closed my door. That girl is something.

I opened the door to my new and less improved Toyota Prius and plopped inside on the much less comfortable seats compared to my old Corvette.
"Sorry, couldn't afford a Corvette. Okay, so drive to the highway then I'll tell you where to go from there."
"Fine." I turned on the car and exited the parking structure outside my loft. As I began to drive, I became anxious and uneasy about where I was headed. Was this going to be dangerous? Could I die? Where is she taking me?
"Calm your pants, we're going to fly."
A huge involuntary grin appeared on my face and I couldn't help but be excited to myself. Flying has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy!
We finally reach the place after a full day of driving and I'm not very surprised to see where we've arrived. The Grand Canyon.

"There's really nothing to it, you just spread your arms as if they're wings and your wings should appear which is step one. Step two, take a few flaps with the wings and step three, jump. We've been over this a th-"
"A thousand times I know this is your thousandth time saying that." We had been trying to fly in the deepest part of the Grand Canyon for 4 hours straight. My back hurt and I had cuts and bruises on my body as evidence that I still couldn't successfully fly without plummeting to my almost-death. I took another deep breath, Spread my arm-wings, flapped them a few times, and jumped. I doubt I will ever get tired of the rush feeling that runs through my body as I realize I'm no longer on the ground. My winds begin to flap with clear effort as I try to flap without moving my arms. Stephanie makes it look so easy but it isn't! I soar down into the canyon and with every flap I slow the plummet down a bit but it still isn't helping. I'm going to hit the ground. Before I make impact, I give one big push and my wings flap and take me higher in the sky. I keep doing the "push" motion that saved my life and I fly back towards Stephanie. I did it!
"Finally. I was probably gonna let you hit the ground until you got it, to be honest."
"Wow, and the best teacher award goes to..." I hold out a fake award in my hand and she takes it and begins to make a fake speech. Her phone rings, interrupting her speech. She looks at the caller I.D. and worry comes upon her face.
"I gotta go!"
"Why? Is Satan calling?" I said with a sarcastic chuckle.
"Yes." She said and before she leaped into the sky to fly she said, "See you Sunday!"
See you Sunday.
