She sits on that same rock. Everyday. Looking at the ocean. Marvelling over what could lay beneath. Wondering where the currents are going. And what they bring with them on the journey across the Pacific Ocean.
Of course this is not the only things Eleanor thinks about whilst sitting on that rock. She wonders what the future could bring, good or bad. Where she will go once she finishes University. Where she will travel to take the most amazing pictures.
She did not think of thing that other teenagers thought of. Like what they would were the next day. Or a cute boy who they had a great admiration for.
She was an idealist. She dreamt of things that would never happen. And red loads of books, because she liked the way she could enter a whole other world. She created the perfect world in her head, which she escape to if she felt upset. Somewhat like a happy place.
But because of this, she was shy. Only speaking to people she knew well. And when she did, very few words came out. She was the girl who sat at the back of the class, who nobody noticed.
Although for some this may seem like a terribly sad and boring life. But for Eleanor, in was amazingly interesting and being alone was the only moments she enjoyed.
Don’t get me wrong, Eleanor has emotions. She laughs. She cries. She loves. She is as human as any one of you. She has two friends who she has known since birth and they are the only people she will have a full conversation with.
Eleanor loves the alone time though. That is why every day, she sits on that exact same rock, placed on a deserted beach that nobody really cares about anymore.
Its just her and her mind. Just the way she likes it.

He always comes here with his friends. Kathy’s Diner. Where you could get the greatest burgers for the best prices. The little diner was as retro as it gets. Red leather seats. Checker floors. Jukebox.
The diner was always packed with people from all generations. And was especially popular with the children from the local high school.
Oliver felt slightly out of place with his friends on this certain trip to the diner. His friends had brought their girlfriends. Of course, he had nothing against Becca and Chloe. They we his friends as well. They were friendly, kind and thoughtful. Some qualities he friends just sometimes chose not to use.
Oliver felt left out because he didn’t have a girlfriend to put his arm around, or share a milkshake with.
His friends had always tried to hook him up with girls from their school. But he didn’t want fling. He wanted someone he could love and she would love him back.
Sometimes Oliver hated being a hopeless romantic. Every time he thought of a relationship, he thought of the most amazing girl who was not perfect but had the cutest smile and would like him for him and not for any other reason.
Eli and Nate had asked him multiple times if he was gay because he turned down what they called ‘the hottest girl in school’ because she had an ego the size of Asia.
As Oliver’s friends chatted and laughed, while he thought about how much he loves his life.
Just him and his friends. Just the way he likes it.
