It was as if I had been here before. In a dream, or so I thought. It was in reality my nightmare had come alive, haunting me. Was this karma? Had I done something wrong? These thoughts pondered in my head.

The town of "nightmare" so it had been called, it had been deserted for over two years. The walls of each house had cracks in them, I observed, as I strolled these lonely streets filled with blood stains. I felt a small shiver flow through my body at the sight of rotting flesh, a swarm of flies had been on what seems to be the body of a young adolescent. I leant my back on a huge mahogany tree to catch my breath, the sight of black widow spiders crawling on the blood-red sidewalks was too overwhelming. As I entered an old house I had to be cautious- broken glasses were everywhere on the front porch. this old house reminded me of the movie "Dracula". Cobwebs and screetching bats were everywhere.

I could smell death as I ventured farther into the house. It had a musty smell, I felt like to vomit at the stench. The kitchen smelt raw and also smelt of garbage which had never been taken out in months. The staircase had an earthly smell, like fresh soil, which was surprising. The bedrooms smelt sweaty from mouldy clothes which lay on the dusty floor.

I came upon a basement from hearing screams of pain, as if someone was being slaughtered. The creak of the wooden floor as I walked was frightening. The whispering of voices made my heart pound with fear, the jingle of Christmas bells and the shaking of chandeliers made my knees give in. I could hear the cracking of bones, the chewing of flesh, the tear of ligaments coming from behind me. I heard his evil laughter- he seemed jolly, but not in a good way. I closed my eyes and bit my lips.

The pulling of rough hands on my body made me open my eyes, but saw no one. Shadows moving swiftly had been touching me. They placed me on a bed with silky smooth sheets it felt so relaxing and uncomfortable at the same time. Gentle hands touched my lips, a sign indicating me to be silent, my lips felt numb. I could not move them. I felt the piercing of a rigid knife plunging into my heart. I could not scream, I tried but it was hopeless. Different set of hands- smooth, were placed over  my eyes shutting them.

I awoke in a place peaceful, it looked exactly like the town but happy. People were singing, dancing and talking. Laughter filled the air. The shadows placed me in a world of unbroken peace. Never to be disturbed.
