Bobby POV

As I was reading one of my books I get a call from Linda, I haven't heard from her in a while so I picked up the phone.

"Hello? Is this Bobby?"

"Yeah who's asking and why do you have Linda's phone!?"

"Hi, this is Officer Blunt and I have Linda's phone because her and her family has died in a house fire."

"Is everyone dead!?"

"No sir, only one survived, her name is Emma. Do you know her?"

"Yes, I've known her sense she was little."

"Well, sense her father, mother and brother died in the fire, she has no one to go to or stay with and it say's your a friend to the family so I assume you would be able to take care of Emma right!?"

"Yes, I'm on my way now."

Ending the call I sat back in my seat and thought, Poor Emma, she lost everyone. But how did the fire start? Getting up I grabbed the key's to my car and drove all the way to go get Emma.

Emma's POV

After the call they went and bagged up my mom's phone and looked at me.

"Bobby is coming to pick you up, your going to live with him now, but if anything happens you come and tell us okay?"

Nodding my head to the police officer, he walked away and started to talk to some other people. Then one of the neighbors who held me back when my dad ran into the fire came to me and gave me my backpack.

"I believe this is yours, I wanted to give it to you before they could find it and take it away."

Grabbing the backpack I hugged it and Amy put her hand on my shoulder and thanked the man for me.

"No problem, I'm very sorry for your loss Emma, I really am. Just hang in there okay?"

As he walked away I looked into my bag and I can see my sketch book, some of my supplies I use to draw, my book, a hoodie, and small snacks I had in there. I then put my bag on my back and looked at Amy.

"Amy... how did this happen?... How could this happen?..."

"I don't know Emma, but I am so sorry this happened to you."

Hugging her, I didn't want to let go for she was my best friend. I didn't want to lose her too, and I could tell she didn't want to let go either but her mom grabbed her shoulder and we looked at her with tears in our eye's.

"Why can't Emma stay with us mom?"

"Cause her family has known this guy longer than us Amy."

"I don't want Emma to go mom..."

"I know, I don't either but we have to okay?"

Tears streaming down all three of our faces, we did a group hug and just sat there, I then heard a car door open and shut. Looking at Amy who was sleeping on the other side of her mother and then her mom, her mom just stroked my hair and tilted her head to a guy who was talking to an officer. On instinct, I ran to the guy and hugged him, his arms rapping around me and picking me up.

"Their gone Bobby...."

"I know, I'm so sorry Emma."

Looking Bobby in the face wiping the tears away, he kissed me on the forehead and then put me down. I then went back to Amy and her mom hugging her trying not to wake Amy up.

"Goodbye..."

"Goodbye Emma, and when you get older come and visit us okay? We will always be here for you and you will always be part of our family okay?"
