Begin Again ( O2L Fanfiction )

Chapter one.

~Hollis's P.O.V~

I looked around my incredulously small kitchen, full of my favourite people in the world: My best friend: Maeve, My mum, and my other two friends: Luna and Aisling. My eyes clouded over and i stared at the seventeen small flames placed in front of me; on a cake of course. "Hollis?" Maeve called my name quite loudly, snapping me out of my trance. I smiled at the people i loved just as the horribly off-key singing began. I laughed as the noise died down and blew out the candles in, unfortunately, two blows. "Damn." I muttered softly as my mother began to slice into my traditional chocolate cake.

After everyone had finished their cake and talked to each other a bit, Aisling, bossy as ever claimed that it was time to open presents, and no one was opposed to the idea, so everyone but me scramble out of the living room to retrieve their gifts for me.
I opened Luna's first. As i pulled at the wrapping paper it began to tear and reveal a small, round locket with a picture of the four of us making the most ridiculous faces possible at Maeve's birthday party the previous month. I squealed and attacked her in a hug, resulting in us both banging out heads on the hard floor and laughing uncontrollably. "Thank you so much Luna!" I hugged her again and reclaimed my spot on the couch. "My turn!" Aisling screamed and shoved an oversized gift bag in my face. "Alright, alright. Jesus. I'll open it." I began to take off the layers of tissue paper from the top of the bag, after about another thirty seconds of picking off tissue paper i dumped the bag out. Out fell a box. Within a box. Within a box. Inside that tiny box was a small necklace with a small bird pendant in silver. Tears welled up in my eyes. "How did you get this?" I asked her. "Eh, i took mine to the jewelry store downtown and had them make a copy of it in your silver. No biggie." I threw my arms around her and squeezed her tight. "Thank you Aisling." I whispered to her and she cracked a smile.

Our bird necklaces have always been very special to us. We've been friends since the fourth grade and we've worn then everyday since we got them. We got them when one day in seventh grade when, Luna was diagnosed with leukemia. Aisling, Maeve and i went out and used all of our babysitting and birthday money to buy the necklaces for all four of us: Aisling's in copper, Luna's in bronze, Maeve's in gold, and mine in silver. Mine got caught in an accident with a golf cart sometime last year and i haven't been able to replace it.

"Me!" Maeve said in a singsong-y voice. I grabbed the small box and three iPhone cases lay neatly, side by side. I laughed. You could say that i have a bit of a "problem" with phone cases.. Considering the fact that i have thirty-seven of them.. So this was perfect. The first case was plain white with a large semicolon on it. It means something to me, Maeve, Luna and Aisling. The second case had Fall Out Boy's logo on the back of it. The third was the Cheshire Cat smile with the words "We're All Mad Here." In pretty curvy font at the bottom. "Thanks, you guys. Your gifts were amazing." I began to gather all of the wrapping paper and tissue paper and shove it all into one of the gift bags when my mum came into the room with a small envelope. "I have a gift for you too." She stated as she extended the envelope towards me. "Oh.. okay." I replied. Normally we do family gifts the day after my birthday but i suppose this was an exception.

I tore open the envelope and two long, thin pieces of paper fell out. I grabbed my reading classes from the coffee table in front of me and peered at the small font. They read. "Vidcon 2015. Admit one."

I screamed and jumped up to hug my mother. "Thank you thank you thank you thamk you thank you!" I squealed as my friends all stared at me with confusion written clear as day across their faces. I handed the tickets to Maeve and soon enough she was screaming with me.
I couldn't believe it. We were going to Vidcon.
