marigold was furious when her parents had told her they were moving to london. she was angrily packing all of her things, mumbling to herself that it wasn't fair that they had known the entire summer and decided to tell her during the last week of it. it was currently the 28th of october and they were going to london the next day.

however, when her parents had told her that she was going to another school of witchcraft and wizardry, and she was excited about that. she loved to do magic and learn different things. she sighed, and decided to take a break from packing to go get a snack. she looked around and frowned at all the black and white in her life. she remembered when she was eight years old and asked her mum why she couldn't see any colors.

"well, mari, when you get older, you're going to meet someone very important and the longer you know them, you'll see colors."

marigold sighed and shook her head, "hey mum? what was your first color?" she asked her mother, sitting down at the kitchen table. her mother turned around in surprise, not hearing her daughter walk out of her room.

"it was blue. it's the color of your fathers eyes. i was walking out of class at the time and we ran into each other. his eyes were the first color i saw." esme smiled at the thought, and looked at her daughter, who was frowning.

"marigold, i'm sure you'll see colors soon." she sat beside her daughter, and rubbed her back.

"mum, what color are my eyes again?" it was the only question she was allowed to ask about her own colors. "they're blue, like your fathers. i was hoping you'd get them when you were born."

esme smiled at her daughter, "go finish packing, you're almost done. use your magic and then we can go to bed and go to london tomorrow morning. your father is at the house, he says it's beautiful." she kissed her daughters head and smiled, going back to the kitchen to finished packing up the last box.

marigold returned to her room and used her wand to pack the rest of her things and put the taped box onto another box. she sat down on her bed, put her hair up in a bun and went to sleep for the night.

the next morning, marigold was woken up by her mother, and sighed. "today's the day." she mumbled. in the forty-five minutes that she was awake, her mother used her wand to bring all their boxes to their new house, and the mother and daughter duo had apparated to london, inside their house.

marigold hugged her father and told him that she missed him before running upstairs to her new bedroom. her father, jordan, was busy all week with painting the house and marigold was happy to see that her new room was a light green color, and much bigger than it was in america.

"marigold lee winters, we need to get your school supplies. i have the list. lets go, darling." her father called, and she raced downstairs with a huge smile on her face. "you went to hogwarts, what house were you in?" she asked both of her parents.

"i was in hufflepuff, and your father was in ravenclaw. the other two houses are gryffindor and slytherin, but we will love you no matter what house you are in." mari held her parents arms and apparated with them to a place called 'diagon alley.'

going into her fifth year, marigold needed two pewter cauldrons, a whole mass of textbooks, dragon hide gloves, a winter coat, and a formal gown.

once most of her supplies were collected, marigold and esme walked into a shop called madam malkins, looking for a formal dress the supply list said to have. her eyes widened at the plethora of dresses and immediately saw the perfect one for her. it was a deep red, with off the shoulder sleeves and a small silver belt going around her middle.

marigold frowned and turned to her mother, "mum, what color is this dress?"

"it's red, darling." esme told her daughter and looked as marigold told her she wanted this dress.

her mother asked her a million times if she was sure about this dress, and after begging her mother for it, she went home with the dress she loves.

a couple days later, marigold was lugging her trunk across the floor and asked her father to put it on the train bottom for her. she sighed to herself in worry, as this was a new school.

"you'll me okay, darling, trust me. professor dumbledore knows of you and you will be sorted once you get there. write to your mother and I as soon as you get to your dorm. we love you, marigold." she received a kiss on her forehead and boarded the train. she sat down in a random compartment, and waved to her parents outside the window.

the door to the compartment opened and she saw two ginger boys. "oh, hello, if you want to sit her by yourselves, i can move-" she was interrupted by one of them.

"please, sit, we don't bite. you must be new here. i'm george, that's fred. we're twins. welcome to hogwarts, what's your name?"

"my name is marigold, marigold winters. nice to meet you."

'maybe, just maybe,' she thought, 'this won't be so bad.'
