"You want him to do what?" Miere heard Kai half speak half yell at his mom.

"Its been in the air for a while now and Lezabel wants him to do it," Olana Wilder, Lady of The Assassins in Aurum, told her son. "I have orders, kids, and my orders are your orders. You knew it would be like this when you started all those years ago."

"Like we had a choice." Kai muttered, and he was right. Barely three days after Miere's noble parents died, Olana and Jarrait, Kai's parents, took him in. Miere never learned how his parents died. Only that they were in Lezabel's assassin court. That's he's here training and living with the Lady of The Assassins, her husband, and her son. Kai often tells him if they were alive they'd be stuck here with no choice same as they are now.

"Are you sure this is what she wanted Lana?" Kai's father said, sounding somewhat disappointed his wife would put Miere in this position regardless of her orders.

Olana gave her husband a look, to say a big as if she would disobey her queen for anyone. "I know Miere how it sounds but Lezabel is confident you can do this."

"Lezabel is cocky, mom, she just needs someone to do her bidding and it doesn't need to be Ere." Kai took a minute as if running over what he was about to say, "Why don't you do it? You're the 'Lady' don't make a child do it."

"We're both children Kai, it's a mission just like any other and I'll get it done." Miere finally said, having enough of this.

Kai rolled his eyes. "It's not just any other mission, Miere. You've been assigned to kill The Tueur, the best of Argenti's company. His body count is endless, as are the stories about him."

"There are stories about all of us Kai," and with that Miere just walked out of the room.

"Don't," Miere heard Olana tell Kai.

Kill The Tueur? Miere is good at his job but, assassinate the best of Argenti? Miere was the best in Lezabel's assassin court, no question, except maybe for Olana herself. Being the best was one thing but he didn't even know who The Tueur is, no one did.

Miere started walking to the stairs of the inn, he needed out of this inn, out of this gods blessed kingdom. One foot in front of the other and he found himself out the door and into his city, despite the rain. Where am I even going? He thought to himself, but part of him knew already. He slipped behind a building and onto he the roof of another. Miere always liked to travel by rooftop especially in this city of the kingdom, all the gold in the sunlight that wasn't showing.

From one rooftop to another he walked for what felt like no time at all. Until his saw it in the distance, his mother and fathers grave. "There you are," he said as he scaled off the building, as if his mother and father could hear him. Miere walked through the gates of the graveyard and over to his family's bench in front of his mother and father laid to rest in front of him. "I can't even say I don't know what to do. We all know I don't have a choice. If you all were here I still wouldn't have one. I don't even know if you all would make it easier." That's all Miere felt like speaking, he knew his parents knew what was going through his head. He just liked to come here and sit with them.

Miere was very young when his parents died, he didn't remember anything about them he hadn't learned from pictures or videos. His grandparents died at the same time as his parents, when Lezabel went crazy, Jarrait told him. One day, when Kai and Miere were 10, they were playing in the attic and found boxes of stuff that they guessed came from Miere's house. Boxes of pictures of his mom and dad. His mom, Verra, had beautiful red hair and pale skin. Miere had his father's eyes. Sacrin Ochlan and Kai's father were friends from a young age. Miere always admired his father, and his parents love. Olana and Jarrait always talked about his parents like they were an epic but dangerous love story. His father allowing himself to fall in love with a woman from Argenti, traveling days over and over just to spend a few hours with his mother. Until she finally grew of age and left the royal court of The Kingdom of Silver.
