Pov: Kidnapper (his name is Charles, btw)
My plan was perfect. We had the younger twin locked up, and a ransom pending.
I had gotten another offer seconds after I had the twin call his friends. I was going to be rich. This was my lucky day.
I had just picked up my buddy, and now we were on our way back to move the twin.
Julian, my companion, fiddled with a canteen. He had white medium-length dreadlocks that were collected into a ponytail across the top of his head. The sides which were naturally brown were closely shaved.
I had made sure to tell him not to be coming off a high before I picked him up. He had gotten addicted to oxy and dreamer after a accident in middle school. Now he was a junior in high school. He was a brilliant and reliable kid when he wasn't using, and he had no criminal background.
"Ready, Jules?" I asked when we pulled next to the park ranger's shed.
The boy nodded. I trusted the lad, for I had used him for another job earlier this year. "What are we doing?" He asked.
"Just moving the guy in there. You'll get twenty-five percent of the profit." I told him. To a teenager, that was still a lot of money.
"Where are we moving him?" Jules asked.
"A warehouse beside that bar on Eighth street. That's close to where the exchange is going to be." I informed him.
"Ok." He took another swig out of his canteen. I devilish sparkle dominated his blue eyes.
I grabbed the canteen, and peered in. A purple liquid swirled around.
"Jules!" I scolded angrily. "What the f*ck! Didn't you get it when I told you no drugs."
"It's Kool-Aid," he offered, shrugging.
I sniffed the liquid then took a sip. It tasted familiar, pleasant, and light.
"This is f*ckin' lean!" I yelled in his face.
He shrugged again with a supreme look on his face. "I guess it it, but, d*mn, it's good."
I slapped him.
His brows lowered in anger.
"Why don't you get it? We can't f*ck this up. You know how much f*cking money we'll make if this deal goes through?!" I ranted.
"I haven't had any oxy or dreamer all day! Just let me have some lean," he demanded. "Speaking of the devil, oh, those drugs I miss them," he stated softly as an afterthought. He attempted to grab the canteen and missed by a couple feet even though I didn't move my hand.
"Come on! Give me it, b*tch!" Jules demanded.
"Once we get this guy moved," I negotiated coldly.
Jules huffed. "Alright. Let's get going."
I was extremely fond of Julian, but this kid was throwing away his gift. He had such a brilliant mind when he was off drugs. I wished he would realize that.
"Let's go," I agreed, walking to the shed and unlocking it.
Jules pulled two syringes from his pocket.
"We only need one. It'll kill him if we give him two," I told him.
Jules nodded. "I know. This is our reward," he commented, holding up the larger syringe and jamming it back into his pocket.
"What is it?" I asked. I doubted he was going to inject horse tranquilizer into himself.
"It's ice," he replied.
I nodded. D*mn, this kid knew me so well. Ice, also known as crystal meth, was my favorite. All anger from catching him with the lean was gone.
I smiled at him. "Ok. Let's get going."
I pushed open the door
"Cory, my friend," I greeted cheerfully. A satisfying feeling washed over me when I saw the fear and pain written on his face. "Another offer has come in. You'll need to make another call to your friends," I continued, stepping inside. After Jules was in, I closed the door.
I pointed the gun at his side and made him read the script I had composed after hearing from the other bidder. He read it without giving us trouble. I nodded my approval when he hung up.
"Good job, friend," I praised him.
He glared at me so I smashed his face with the side of my gun. "Lighten up, friend, it's time to go." The twin didn't look at me.
"Leave," he choked out.
I chuckled. "Don't go biting on the hand that helped you."
"That was a long time ago," he whispered.
I turned my back on the twin. "Jules," I called, backing away as Julian approached Cory with the syringe.
"What is that!?" Cory rasped the loudest he could, stepping backward until he was against the wall.
Jules moved closer.
"What is that!?" Cory repeated.
I grinned when I heard the terror in his voice. This is what I lived for.
I watched as the needle slid into his vein. Within a minute, my hostage was unconscious and ready to be transferred into the city.
I was going to be f*cking rich!
