Mates? Maybe Not.

The next Beta.. or so you thought

Selene and her best friend Tate were at the training field after school preparing for their future duties. Tate was the son of the Alpha of the GoldMoon pack and Selene was the daughter of the Beta. they are both next in line for the position and they were over the moon excited to be taking the positions side by side.

"Selene I am so glad to have you as my Beta, I don't know what I would do with anyone else." Tate says to Selene as they spar a bit

Selene laughed at how her big bad best friend was acting and was about to respond when Tates father sent out a mind link to have everyone meet at the pack house in 5 minutes. 

Selene and Tate sighed and grabbed their bags and started heading to their home to see what the Alpha wanted. 

Selene and Tate held hands as they walked, as they walked she thought about how she hoped and wished that Tate were her mate but she was almost 18 and while they were very close and loved each other dearly she knew neither of them had felt the mate bond towards each other. 

As they approached the pack house they could sense that everyone in the pack was there and of course waiting on their future Alpha and Beta to arrive. They hurried to the house laughing until they reached the door then they straightened up their appearance and with straight faces they walked into the house.

Alpha Kenner looked at Selene and smiled, "Ah I am glad that you finally arrived Selene. I was just discussing with your parents about next week. I am glad to see you have come of age to step up as the next Beta and be the right hand woman to my son. I cannot wait to see what the Moon Goddess has in store for the both of you and the GoldMoon pack."

"Thank you Alpha Kenner, I am more than excited to stand side by side with my best friend and lead this pack." Selene said as she held Tates hand and smiled wide.
