Prologue (Neo)

"Lon. You sure that this is a good idea? I mean entering a whole new world seems dangerous to me." I asked Lon as he prepared the portal with his techy stuff.

Before we go any further, My name's Neo. The year is 2200. Abilities are super rare these days and we must rely on technology now. Weapons are super common; Even on children.

A few people possess abilities just like me. I was born with various abilities and my parents were super happy that I was a special kid. Sadly, they were killed in a robbery before they could even raise me like a proper kid.

Ever since, I was raised in a orphanage but escaped it because of the abuse they gave. I was never treated properly and the food was terrible.

A few days later after escaping, a random family adopted me out of pity. I was then grown to be a tough fighter as my step-father was a military officer and trained me a lot. I hated the training but I sure did appreciate it, if it wasn't for the training I wouldn't be where I am.

After I moved out, my step-father died of a disease and my step-mother died from pure sadness. I met Lon in the bathroom of a random supermarket while being bullied by people for some reason.

I saved him from the situation and allowed him to stay at apartment as long as he wants to get used to. Lon's parents had abandoned Lon ever since he was born so he was raised in a orphanage.

Lon was however, super smart as he was raised in the orphanage. He studied a lot of the books and studied a bunch of things that was way too advanced for a normal kid. I honestly don't know why he was like this. Could be OCD.

Lon was always obsessed with "Alternate Universes" or "Alternate Worlds" for some reason. He always wanted to visit one and always dreamed of making a portal that could go to it.

A couple years later, Lon was confident enough that he could build a portal to one as he studied a lot of about Engineering. I gave Lon half of my money to get the equipment because I trusted him enough to not screw around.

It took Lon a couple months if not a year, but he MANAGED to build the damn thing. I don't even know how but he is a madman alright. Back to the present now.

"Don't worry, Neo. We'll go in the universe or world for a few months or days and go back and you don't have to worry about the portal not working. I have a manual portal that's a bit ineffective than this giant one but it's still in work in progress so come on.

And yes, I did test it to see if it works and it indeed it does. Trust my word on this."

I sighed. "Fine, Lon. Just for a few months, aight?"

Lon smiled as he activated the portal. "Neo. Three, Two, One, GO!"

"Agh... Fuck. Hell are we?" I said as I stood up only to see that I was in some kind of white building. I look left and right to see more people laying on white beds.

The hell, am in a hospital? Since when does portals lead you into a fucking hospital? Luckily, Lon was with me as he was right next to me.

I exited the bed and walked to Lon and shook him. He woke up, thankfully. He's usually a deep sleeper. "What the... Where are we, Neo?"

"Hell, I don't know either. It looks like we're in the past of a different world or something. But the building? Probably a hospital judging by all the people here."

Lon exited the bed and I helped him get up as he was a bit groggy. "Neo, I think we should go out from the window."

"The window? Why?"

"If we just walk outside the building to the main door, that would be a bit suspicious and we would probably be sent back. We should sneak out instead."

I thought about it for a moment before nodding. Lon jumped over the window as I merely walked over it. "So, the hell we do now?"

"Well, Neo. Obviously, we explore! Also, you gotta hide your markings on your face because we don't really want to stand out."

I realized that the markings on my face were still there so I hid it with another ability I had. "There you go, Neo. Now, let's go over to that street."

Before we even got the chance to continue walking, a hospital staff came from behind. "STOP! You are not allowed to leave the hospital without a discharge. Come back immediately!"

Lon didn't say anything while I retaliated. "Shut up, woman. We don't care if we need to get discharged or not. We're getting the hell out of here."

The woman took a phone out of her pocket and started to dial someone. "I require assistance on catching 2 patients who have escaped the hospital!"

Lon and I knew that we had to get the hell out of here as fast as we could so Lon took out the device that creates a portal for us to go back to our universe but IT WASN'T FUCKING WORKING!

"WHAT THE FUCK? I thought this worked 100%! I tested this thing hundreds of time and NOW it's not working?!" Lon yelled.

"Lon, now's not the time for yelling. We gotta get the hell out of here, Hop on!" I said to Lon as he piggybacked onto me. I began running at a high speed.

Immediately after a minute, a few people in black started to come at us. All of them had some kind of ability that made as fast as me. "NEO! WE'VE GOT COMPANY!"

I increased my pace as they started to increase their pace too. "STOP! YOU WILL BE ARRESTED IF YOU DO NOT STOP RIGHT NOW!"

Arrested? As if.

I started to run at a more faster speed while Lon was struggling to grab onto me. "Suspects are continuing to move without warning. Tasing is allowed if necessary."

"KEEP RUNNING, NEO! I'LL THINK UP A PLAN! KEEP RUNNING FOR 3O SECONDS!"

I continued to run from them as I turn a corner around the street and started to run on top of the vehicles to let the people who are chasing me having some trouble.
