Chapter 8 - Finally Awake

A/N: Hello? Update anyone?? It's short tho. 

This is un-beta so if you saw mistakes that's my fault.

Ace twitches in his sleep, swatting the finger that was poking on his cheek repeatedly. He could hear two voices but didn't mind them as he tried to sleep more.

"Hey, stop that. Let him sleep some more." A faraway voice said, clearly scolding the other one.

"Buuuuuuut." The other's voice whine. Ace's closed eyes twitched. That voice sounds familiar.

"Luffy!" Now he clearly recognized this voice it's from Sabo. Wait. Luffy?! Luffy's awake?!

Ace jolted from his sleep, he sat up and turned his body to Luffy who's sitting beside him while Sabo sitting at the chair across their bed. He felt a whiplash due to his sudden movement but Ace didn't mind it as he stares at Luffy's owlish eyes.

"Ace!!" Luffy exclaimed with a wide smile on his face when he saw his big brother finally woke up.

Ace just stare at his little brother, his eyes tearing up a bit.

"L....Luffy?" Ace muttered. It's real right? Luffy's finally awake. He's not suffering anymore, right? Ace gulped down the lump that was forming in his throat, his lips trembling.

"Ace?" Luffy asked back, tilting his head.

"You idiot." Ace snapped as he smack his baby brother with his fist. "Who told you to shield me from that bullet." Ace scolded. Luffy hold the top of his head where Ace hit him.

"B..butー" Luffy whines with a quiver on his lips and tears forming in his wide doe eyes. Ace didn't let him finish as he pulls Luffy to him.

"I almost lost you." Ace said in a shaking low voice.

"I'm sorry, Ace!" Luffy said as he burst out crying as the situation they were in finally sink in to him. "But you're being stubborn again. Me and Sabo don't want to leave you alone, you don't listen to us and you guys didn't saw the cipher pol agent already aiming at you. I got scared because I don't want you to die, idiot Ace." Luffy rants in between his sobbing. Ace hugged his brother tightly, biting his lips as he imagined the terror that Luffy felt that time.

"I'm sorry Luffy." Ace answered in regret, burrowing his head at the crook of Luffy's neck as he tried to fight the sobs that leaking out from his mouth. Warm. He can finally feel the warmth that his precious baby brother radiates. The warmth that comforts him and grounding him when he feels lost. "I just want to protect the both of you." Ace muttered.

Sabo let out a tired sigh. "Luffy's right, Ace. You really is an idiot. Who told you to sacrifice yourself like that?" Sa   bo said as he finally can let out his frustration on his two brothers now that they're safe. Temporarily. He heard Ace mutters a silent sorry but he knows that he's really regretting his actions back then

"And you, Luffy what you did is very reckless. What if you really died there? You don't know how worried we are." Sabo scolded as he flicked Luffy's forehead. Luffy who's still wrapped in his big brother's arm looks down, tears still forming at the corner of his eyes. Sabo shake is head as the mental image of Luffy lying down on his own pool of blood invades his mind. He climbed on their bed. He wraps his arms around Ace's waist as they sandwiched Luffy in between them, relishing the comforting heat that Luffy emits. "Just promise us that you won't do it again. We don't want to lose you" Sabo said to the two of them. He got his answer by a two pairs of arm wrapping around him tightly. Sabo smiles as he give both of them a kiss on top of their head earning a giggle and a flustered groan.

"Good."

Chris looks at her file folder as she walks toward the infirmary. She just finished her early routine report to their Captain, whom they affectionately calls Oyaji, being the head nurse it was her responsibility to check if they have enough medical supply in their ship. Her hands already at the doorknob of the infirmary, ready to open the door when she heard muffled sobbed inside. She stopped herself from opening the door and instead remain outside, knowing that the three kids were the only one occupying the room and gives them privacy.

Chris smiled to herself. She could imagine what's happening inside from what little Luffy told her about his precious big brother.

10 minutes passed and Chris deemed it as good enough to enter to the infirmary. She smiles softly when Luffy greeted her as she enters.

"Chris-neechan" Luffy squeals as soon as he saw her enters the room while Ace and Sabo who's sitting at each side of Luffy nodded at her. She noticed how red and puffy their eyes but didn't commented on it instead she smiled and nodded in return at them before turning her attention to Luffy.

"Hi, Luffy. How are you?" Chris asked with a smile, checking Luffy's pulse and temperature.

"I'm good!" Luffy exclaimed with a big grin. Chris giggled at how hyperactive Luffy is despite at how he just woke up. She reach up and petted his hair. She could already feel getting attach to this kid and suddenly feel lonely when Luffy finally get discharge.

"That's good to hear." She said, smiling. "Come on let me change your bandage first then you can have your lunch. Okay." at the mention of lunch three stomach simultaneous growl earning a laugh from Chris. Ace and Sabo blushed in embarrassment while Luffy cheered at getting food later as he was changed into new bandage.

"I hope you guys won't refuse this time your body clearly needs it." She said worriedly as the two nodded shyly.

"Okay. I'll get your foods now." Chris said as she finished changing Luffy's bandage and clean up the soiled one when suddenly there's a knock on the door.

"Food delivery!" the voice outside said playfully. Luffy's ears perks up at the mention of food and cheered when a cart full of food enters pushed by a man with bread hairstyle and following him was a man with pineapple hairstyle and a pretty guy? Weird.

"Why do you have food as hair?" Luffy said with a tilt of his head. "That's so weird" The 4th and 1st division commander's eyes twitched at the seemingly innocent question while the 16th division commander, the head nurse laughs in amusement. "Hey, Sabo, Ace. Can I have meat as hair?" Luffy said as he turned to his two face palming brother.

"NO!" The two shouted making  Luffy whines in disappointment. 

A/N: Soooooo how's my poor attempt of fluff? Can it even consider as fluff?? 

Anyways I'm so sorry for the very long absence life happens. I'm back but I can't promise that I'll update like back then. I hope you understand.
