Damian was zoned out, idly planning ways to convince father to let him leave school and return to being home-schooled by Alfred. Him only being at school in the first place because father thought it would help improve his social development, whatever that meant.

The teacher mentioned something about a new kid, Damian zoned back in to the room and noticed a tall, skinny  boy with hair that rivalled his own in colour but was longer and messier, and oversized glasses that made him chuckle as the boy introduced himself to the room.

"Hi!" a cheesy, excited smile. "I'm Jon Smith, and I live on a farm in Hamilton county." Damian's ears perked up. There was a slight hesitation on the word "smith" as though it were out of place, it was a also name commonly used when one did not wish to divulge their true identity. Then there was his presence there to begin with, he was from a farm in some county Damian hadn't heard of, their school was clearly out of his price range, most likely one of father's scholarships then and yet the boy did not appear to be particularly athletic or intelligent...

Their eyes met as the boy searched for an empty seat, his eyes were inviting blue sapphires filled with hope. Damian motioned with his head to the empty seat next to him and the boy lit up with a smile and moved towards him.

Jon walked towards the boy with a friendly smile, his dad had said to smile and be friendly to people and he would make lots of friends, though his mom had rolled her eyes at that. about halfway to the desk he noticed that the boy's heart rate had increased by a lot and his eyes were subtly moving up and down Jon's body. Oh. A slight blush spread across his cheeks, as he sat down "Hi... wait I know you... you're Bruce Wayne's son"

He sighed in response "yes I am, my name's Damian" his hand reached out with a sense of unnecessary formality. Jon happily took it "cool, your dad's like a CEO or something right? My parents are both just reporters, that's probably more exciting than being in boring meetings all day though, I bet that gets boring" he smiled at Damian, it was returned by a slight raising of his lips.

Jon didn't seem too interested in Damian's money, which was a good sign, he also had a fucking strong handshake,  Damian couldn't help but think those hands could be put to much better use somewhere else...

The teacher started to drone on about basic trigonometry that made Damian roll his eyes, he noticed the "smith" boy seemed confused, he rolled his eyes harder before pushing over his completed worksheet. Jon looked at it for a moment his mouth slightly open then he shook his head "I wont learn that way, my dad says it doesn't matter if you fail as long as you learn from it." Damian gave him a look, "he sounds insufferable. I'll show you how it works then" it was more of a statement or command than an offer, Jon barely had time to process it before Damian started explaining it in a somewhat condescending manner "so how did you get into this school?" He said once Jon seemed to understand the trig "Its far too expensive for a reporters salary"
"Oh I uhhh got a scholarship from the Wayne foundation" he chirped back
"What for?" The boy shrugged. A mystery, He had never been a brilliant detective on level with father or Drake, not that he would admit it, yet he was still intrigued with this boy and was determined to learn more.

After the lesson He led Jon down the corridor towards the next lesson when they saw a small kid cornered by three assholes easily much bigger than the already, taller than Damian, Jon. Damian cleared his throat "leave the kid alone chad" he said calmly staring down the one in the middle, their leader he assumed "or what?"
"You don't want to know what'll happen to you if you don't" Jon watched in silence, amazed at what his short, new friend was doing, confronting giants before him. Then it began.

The middle one started it. A right hook easy to predict for the son of batman. Damian dodged with ease before his hands moved in an almost invisible flurry pounding the attackers body before he began to parry the attacker to the right's strikes before replying with surgical precision to cause as much pain without any major damage as possible. Damian turned to the remaining shit-stain noticing a fist flying towards him. Next. Jonathan Smith.
Jon caught the boy before he hit Damian and slammed him hard into a wall, hurting him bad enough he was on the ground with tears welling in his eyes. Damian looked at Jon, an impressed smile crept onto his face "you're strong" a look of almost worry. Then a shrug. Damian looked at the victim and said condescendingly *TT* "maybe don't be such an loser and they'll leave you alone."
