An unexpected statement

"I said, I kissed him back." Abby told me in a serious tone as she looked up again.

I didn't know what to say. I stood there speechless. She hated this guy. Since they met in grade school. He was always a jerk to her. Why would she kiss him? Why would he kiss her?

I shook my head and turned to walk out of her room.

"Wait. Where are you going?" She asked confused.

"I-I... I'm going to talk to Zayn." I told her as I grabbed my keys and walked out the door.

I reached my car and drove as fast as I could to Zayn's house. I didn't bother knocking, since we never do. I walked right in and looked around for one of my five best friends.

"Zayn?!?" I asked through the house. I hear footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Liam? What's wrong?" He asked as he saw me. I walked to the couch and sat down.

"Y-you remember that douche, Darren, right?" I asked looking at Zayn who took the seat next to me.

"Yea. How could I forget, he's always the reason Abby's upset." Zayn answered with a confused expression washing over his features.

"Well, he beat her today, again. She came home crying..." I was cut off by Zayn.

"What a fucking jerk. I'm going to kick his ass." Zayn said and I could dare the anger in his normally calm features.

"Zayn, mate. That's not all that happened though." I said and his head snapped towards me with confusion, as I had done earlier when Abby told me what happened.

"What do you mean? Is Abby okay?!?" He asked worried.

"Yea. Abby's fine." I reassured him then cleared my throat. "Darren kissed Abby. And she kissed him back. Why, after all the shit he's done, would he kiss her!?" I asked mostly to myself.

Zayn shook his head and stood, walking towards the kitchen. I sat on the couch and got a text from Abby.

From: Abby

Where r u?

I sigh and lean back against the couch.

To: Abby

Zayn's

I simply put. At the same moment I pressed send, Zayn walked back with two beers.

"Want one?" He asked offering me a drink. I shook my head. He shrugged and sat on the couch taking a drink of the beer in his hand.

"Hey, Li.... Can I tell you something and you won't freak?" Zayn said looking over at me. His expression completely serious.

"Of course. You've known me long enough to know that." I told him honestly.

"Okay...." He looked down at his hands nervously biting his lip. It either that he was nervous or he was hiding something.

"Just spot it out. I promise I won't freak. I don't think anything you say can be more shocking than Abby kissing Darren."

"I'm in love with Abby." He rushed out.

Man, was I wrong. I actually think that was more shocking than Abby kissing Darren.

I don't know how long I sat shocked. But it was a while. Long enough for Zayn to think I was freaking out about his unexpected statement.

What a day. I hope there isn't any more surprises.....
