Salem was laying down amongst bright fiery autumn leaves her white hair fanned out as she looked at the sky. Salem was born and raised in the town of Damnatio along with her twin brother Knox and the rest of her family. Damnatio wasn't overly huge or tiny however it seemed small because it was surrounded by a wall and no one was allowed to leave and even if they could they feared the outside because the government says there are so many diseases and horrible creatures outside of the wall. A small pamphlet landed on Salem's face she picked it up and looked at it

Sickness is bad.

Do you know anyone who's ill?

Call us now so we can eradicate them.

She scrunched the paper up and threw it away a small sigh escaped her lips as she stood up. 'Why must the sick die?' she thought to herself 'It's not fair' Salem slowly began to walk towards her house looking at the houses as she passed them they were all extremely similar in appearance they all had new paint jobs, clean gardens and similar coloured wood or brick that varied from blue to red and no gloomy colours could be seen. She arrived at a wooden house painted mint, this was her home. She opens the door to be greeted by a hug "Hey Knox" she smiles and hugged her twin brother back

"Hi, Salem, where have you been? lunch is ready"

"I was at my favourite spot Knox" She smiled, and they walked to the kitchen where on a table is a variety of sushi spread out on the table. Salem grabbed a piece and eats it and Knox started shoving as many as he could into his mouth Salem looked at him and shook her head.

A few hours had passed, and Salem was now panicking as she heard Knox throw up 'no no no he can't be sick' her mind was filling with thoughts 'what if someone finds out he's sick? What if the killers come?' tears started to fall down her face as she realised there would be no way that no one would find out as it would raise suspicion she looked towards her mother who had grabbed the phone and a mixture of emotions hit her as she hears her mother speak "Hello, Is this the eradication centre?" Salem can't believe it! Their own mother had called the centre to kill Knox she quickly ran to his room and hugs him

"Knox you're going to be okay..." They both knew she was lying "M-mother called them" Knox looked at her in shock

"She what?"

"She called the centre...they're coming for you" her streams of tears became loud sobs as she hugged Knox tighter Knox just rubbed his twins back he was shocked he knew someone would call the centre but never thought it would be his own family especially his own mother. Not that long after there was a knock on the door, Salem sits up her eyes red and puffy she looked towards her brother "Knox..." He looks at her and nodded.

"I know" Their mother opened the door for the person who was sent to kill Knox; a young man in his 20s. She led him to Knox's room where Salem was clinging to him. Salem looks at her mother "No, you can't kill him!" her mother pried her off of Knox and held her back Salem started thrashing around "NO! HE'S MY TWIN" their mother tightened her grip as the man grabbed a gun from a holster and aimed it at Knox's head "PLEASE NO" Salem yelled tears began to fall again even though she knew there was no hope. BANG Knox falls down as blood drips from his chest "NOOOOO" Salem broke free and ran to Knox and hugged him "You can't die on me Knox..." he looked at her and smiled

"I'll always be with you just not physically" he whispered as his eyes closed and he goes limp. Salem shook her head and looked at her mother

"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!" she stood up her whole body shaking "You're just as much a murderer as he is." She gestured to the person from the centre who was putting his gun away. Salem's mother looked at her with a look of shock on her face Salem ran to her room and slammed the door shut locking it.
