The March

On bleak days I recollect treading the trodden street
Amidst downtrodden men with shaky wavering feet
Never went so steep my soul amongst Man
Than when I stood and gazed at that hole of defeat
At that silhouette from which departed heat
And smeared my soul with filthy coal of the color of deceit

And from one sin one fills a bin soon one begets a hoard
But in the end one makes amends as one lays on a board
The ilk surrounds so does the fate of Man
No helping hand offered one's stand a prayer one could afford
I spied a look across the heads by God I was aboard
So horrible cries so horrid the eyes of men whom death adorned

On the faces of disgrace I saw expressions set in haste
All the motions of emotions as an ocean streamed to waste
The drought engulfed the hearts of Man
Cursed the child who’s in the wild was stumped and placed
Oh so cruel how angels drool over wonts on spite were based
And the taste of the squalid paste made the path I was made to chase

And so I marched with a heavy heart down the rotten road
In a trance I saw a chance to glimpse the part that glowed
I, enchanted by the fact that there were also men
Who at night had slept outright for all their gold was sold
And there I met some happy men who missed the days of old
And all I roamed I roamed alone when all the prayers were told

The stillness filled my heart with guilt for whom I left behind
The moon that shone against the stone enticed my lonely stride
Then a voice hissed the fate of Man
The faintest sound of the deadliest hound began to creep inside
My luckless head among the dead and scorned the tears I cried
But I did not forsake my spot and stood and gazed with pride

And from that stand my rainy days had welcomed light in rays
The brand new path amidst the wrath had brightened up the maze
Never went so high my soul amongst Man
Than when that infant sighed and cried and welcomed me with praise
From black to gray my rainy day had whitened all my ways
One way I took out of the nook and that's the dream I chase.
