The Promise

~Flashback~

A twelve year old Jim gave a young princess Y/N a mysterious looking book. Y/N looked up at him "What is that, Jim?" She asked, tilting her head. Jim sat next to the princess "It's the book that my mom read to me every night, 'The Legend of Treasure Planet'" Y/N gasp "Woah, there's a book about it!? I only heard about that legend from my parents when they speak privately about it. They never told me directly though." Jim smiled "Well, my mom told me about it and now I'm going to tell you everything you need to know." Y/N and Jim sat closer to each other as they both read the book together.

"Y/N, I can't wait till we grow up! We'll go and find the treasure together and be rich!" Y/N laughed "Me too! But I'm already rich hehe." Jim laughed "I mean, yeah but you'll be rich with me." "What do you mean?" Y/N asked. Jim smirked "Well, I want to make you my wife! I'm not a prince but I'll be rich like one." Y/N cringed "Ewww! Why would you want to marry? That's mushy stuff is gross." Jim frowned "You're so mean but what do you expect from a snobby princess like you." Y/N gasped "Snobby!? Well. Maybe if you weren't such a hot head, I would consider marrying you just so you know!" Jim blushed "What.." Y/N turned her back "Forget what I said!" Jim laughed "No, you said you would marry me if I wasn't a hot head." Y/N ignored him, embarrassed. Jim smiled "How about this, if I man up and find Treasure Planet when we're older, would you promise to marry me?" You blushed as you turn to him "F-Fine, I promise."

Jim and the princess went back to talking about Treasure Planet but little did you two know, the queen overheard the concession in the playroom. She rushed in "Children! Where did you get that book!? It's dangerous to learn this type of information!" Y/N's mother snatched the book away from Jim. Jim looked confused "But Ms.L/N...My mom read me this book every night." Ms.L/N signed "This is dangerous, learning this information will get us into big trouble." "But mother! We didn't know, we just want to become explorers like you and papa!" Y/N pouted with puppy dog eyes. The queen gave her daughter a sad smile. She sat in between the kids "Well then, promise me that you both will keep this a secret..And don't tell anybody." Y/N and Jim quickly nod in agreement. The queen took a deep breath "This legend might be real, but in the meantime. We all have to keep quiet about it. People are selfish and nasty. They will harm anybody to get information about this legend. Promise me, you two..Keep quiet about this."

{{ Years had passed since that day and Jim and Y/N found Treasure Planet but is there more than one planet full of treasure? Recent rumors about the legend tells that there could be more than one treasure planet. Y/N found out about it in the local newspaper and called Jim up right away. With that, they went on their next adventure with an old friend of theirs to find another Treasure Planet. Which they did but someone felt a little sad about the whole trip. }}

~Present~

"Jim, I'm dead serious!" Y/N said, waving her arms in the air. Jim paused for a moment "Why are you so angry with me? We found another Treasure Planet and all you do is ruin the moment for everybody!" Y/N looked at Jim coldly and walked away. Jim yelled out at her "What's your problem, Y/N!? This journey has changed you! You're not the person I know anymore. Is it that you want all this treasure for yourself!?" Y/N stopped and turned to Jim one last time "How dare you accuse me of double crossing you! Maybe you should remember some things you'd said to me a long time ago. Because I never forgotten!" Y/N sobbed and ran inside the ship. Jim stood there outside and sighed, he sat on the ground and covered his face. John looked confused on what just happened. There was gold and jewel's everywhere and no one was happy about it. "Now how can there be any tension with all this beauty around us!?" John Silver joked, trying to lighten up the mood. Jim looked over to his friend with tears in his eyes. John sat by Jim and patted his back for comfort. He then thought of what Y/N said before she left crying.

"Jim, what promise does Y/N mean?" Jim took a deep breath "The promise I made to her when we were kids. I told her that I'll marry her once we find Treasure Planet and now we're here. Just finding the second planet and I still haven't asked her." John laughed "Oh, that's all? If you haven't forgotten the promise you two made for each other then why'd you never propose to her? You obviously love that woman!" Jim looked at John "Because I'm not man enough for her yet! That's why." Silver nudged Jim's shoulder "Then be a man about it, go propose, and tell her how you feel! You're more of a man now than ever. Just a simple mistake doesn't make you less of a man. We all make mistakes every now and then, we just have to learn from it and keep pushing!" Jim turned to John and smiled "Thank you, old friend. I shall do so but for now, I have to wait to give Y/N a ring." John Silver laughed his old husky laugh "No, you're going to propose to her now with a ring." Jim looked shocked as Silver took out a beautiful diamond ring and placed it in Jim's hands. Jim smiled big "Omg! Where did you get this ring? The diamond on it is huge!" "Well, I found it a few minutes ago and thought about saving it for you when you get engaged." Silver replied. Jim stood up and slid the ring in his pocket "Thank you old friend. Thank you."

Jim found himself outside of Y/N's door as he kicked a few times. He was fearing what she would say to his proposal. Y/N took a while to open the door. She looked at Jim with anger "I don't understand, Jim! Just leave me a-" Jim grabbed Y/N shoulders and kissed her deeply. Y/N eyes widened as she froze still. Jim softly pulled away "I'd never forgotten our promise, Y/N. The reason why I didn't propose to you after we found Treasure Planet is because I still think that I wasn't man enough for a beautiful princess like you." Y/N pressed her fingers slightly to her lips "Jim..I-I thought you didn't want to marry me. I'm so sorry for everything!" You quickly hugged Jim tightly as he hugged you back even tighter. "Don't worry, Y/N. I'll make this right." Jim took a step back from the hug and got on one knee. He held your hand as he took out a beautiful diamond ring from his pocket "Y/N, will you marry me?" Y/N began to cry and she jumped into Jim's arms "Yes! I want to marry you more than anything else in the world!" Jim smiled sweetly "Then we shall be married when we return home!"
