I Love You

Everyone who Boss has dated said "I love you" to him, but he could never say it back without truly meaning it. What'll happen when Boss is the first person to say it instead.

"She said she loved me." Boss says, laying his head on Mek's crossed legs.
"Mmm, did you say it back?" Mek asks, looking up to the green leaves mixed with the blue sky while combing his fingers through Boss's hair.
Boss lets out a deep sigh and covers his eyes with his arm before confessing,

"No, of course I didn't. This always happens, why can't I say it back? It should be easy, they're just words, right?"

Mek looks at Boss in disbelief and takes his hand out from his hair. "They aren't just words, Boss. There's meaning behind them, you can't just say you love someone when you don't mean it! If you don't mean the words that you say, then don't say them at all."

Startled, Boss takes his arm off of his eyes and looks back at Mek. "Sorry." He says quietly.

"It's fine. Just be careful." Mek says instantly before continuing his earlier actions. Boss begins to stare at Mek for a few minutes before catching his attention again. "Have you ever said it to anyone?"

Mek nods his head to answer Boss's questions. "Oh...well, did they say it back?" Boss asks excitedly, quickly sitting up to meet Mek's gaze. "Yep! But he didn't mean it, so it didn't end well." Mek says smiling sadly.

Boss started to pout, he didn't like seeing his hubby so sad. So he decided to give Mek a big hug and snuggle up in his arms to make him feel better. Boss smiles and looks up at Mek saying,
"Don't be sad, your wonderful wife will never leave you!" This made Mek crack a real smile and chuckle, hugging Boss closer.

After laughing, they both leaned back against the tree they were under. "Would you ever- ow!" Before Boss could ask his next question, a bee,  that was on the flower he was playing with, had stung his finger. Mek took his hand and looked at it, "S'not that bad, just halfway in your finger."

While Mek was busy trying to get the stinger out, Boss tries to ask his question again. "Mek, would you ever say it to anyone again?" Boss winces at Mek finally gets the stinger out of his finger. Mek swallows, "I don't know, should I?" He asks Boss, starting to get a bit nervous. "Well yeah, of course! But...isn't there another way to say it without actually having to say it?" Boss asks, keeping his eyes on his finger.

"Well, there are different ways to say and express it, but sometimes it's better to just say it and get your point across. Those are just my thoughts on it, don't mind me." Mek says smiling awkwardly.

This had Mek thinking, why's it so hard to tell Boss he loved him? Probably because they've been friends ever since they started college. Mek let out a deep sigh and rubbed his neck. "No time like the present." He mumbles to himself and prepares to confess his feelings. But when he turns to Boss, he gets interrupted by Boss saying "Hey, I gotta go back to my dorm to think some things out...I'll see you in class tomorrow."

"Oh...I'll see you tomorrow...." Mek says sadly.

*The next day at school*

Boss and Mek haven't talked to each other all day during class, and it was killing both of them. But it was after all of their classes when Boss grabbed Mek's arm and dragged him over to a lunch table that was thankfully no where near the cafeteria. "I have to tell you something important." He says, while setting his things on the table. "Well I have to tell you something too." Mek says, also putting his things down.

Boss frowns. "I'm the one who dragged you here...plus, I'm the wife so I go first." He says, crossing his arms over his chest, smiling. Mek sighs and rolls his eyes, giving up. "Fine, go first."
"Okay, don't interrupt...and just, bear with me here okay?" Boss says. Mek nods, letting Boss begin.

Boss suddenly hugs Mek tight and hides his face in the crook of his neck. Mek was surprised but still managed to immediately wrap his arms around Boss.
Boss swallows and finally says what's been on his mind. "I love you, Mek." When Boss finally stepped back from the hug, he saw a look of confusion on Mek's face. "What's wrong?" Boss asks, pouting.

"You do?" Mek asks, tilting his head. "Wha-what do you mean? I just told you plainly that I love you! I'm confused, didn't you say that just saying it would get the point across better?" Boss asks.
"Well, no....yes! I mean," Mek takes a deep breath and starts over. "I was just confused because I...was going to tell you that I love you. And I wasn't really expecting you to say it first, that's why I looked really confused when you confessed." Mek finishes, biting his lip.

"Oh...ohhhh, wait so do you love me more than a friend or-" Boss was interrupted by Mek grabbing his arm, pulling him forward and kissing him. Letting go from the sweet kiss, Mek says, "Definitely more than a friend."

By this time, they're both smiling brightly and holding onto each other. Boss goes back in for another kiss, but their moment gets interrupted by P'Thara yelling from a distance. "Frong, forget about Boss for now! We have to go get some flu medicine for Duen!"

This makes Boss freeze and remember what he gave to Thars as a gift! "Oh shit, we should go. P'Frong might be close." He says, quickly grabbing his things while Mem does the same. "What'd you do this time Boss?" Mek asks. "Nothing serious, heh. Come on, I'll tell you on the way to the mall." Boss says, pulling on Mek's arm.

Heyoo, I'm back! I also hope whoever celebrated Thanksgiving, had a great thanksgiving. And I hope whoever didn't celebrate it had an amazing week/day. :3
