Reader's P O V

I woke up to the smell of bacon and butter, as well as the feint sizzle of something cooking in a pan. A small smile wore on my face as I got out of bed, my warm and fuzzy socks keeping my feet from touching the cold, flooring.

When I exited my room, the bright lights of the Christmas Tree that was in my parents living room shined brightly, seemingly with joy. "Morning sleepyhead." My mother teased from the kitchen, to which I simply nodded and said a quiet good morning.

I sluggishly made my way to the kitchen, peering over my dads shoulder to see that the smell was in fact coming from what he was cooking over the stove. "American styled breakfast?" I asked, genuinely curious as I hadn't had it in a long time. "No, normal breakfast. You've just been in Japan for too long." My father said before flicking my forehead.

I grumbled an "ow" under my breath as my father laughed at me. "Go wake up your brother and sister for me, will you?" He asked, even though we both knew that it wasn't an option. So with that in mind I walked up the steps of my old house, which was very spacious now that I think about it.

After months of living in my schools dormitories, it was refreshing to be back in American and see my friends and family again, as well as sleep in my own room.

I remember thinking that Japan was so weird and cool at the same time because of how different it was from America, but now that I had spent all of my college years in Japan, everything in America seems backwards and wrong.

Pushing those thoughts aside I knocked on my younger sisters door before cracking it open slightly and turning on the lights. "Hey, dad said to wake up." She shuffled in her sleep before groaning quietly. "Okay.. just turn the lights back off." I rolled my eyes before turning the lights back off and leaving to get my brother, only for a similar process to happen with him.

After eating breakfast with my family we went outside and played in the snow that had built up from the night before, we even took our dog out there to play for a few minutes before we had to put them back inside.

And of course, we also had to come back inside as it was freezing cold outside. Once we took off our shoes and put our jackets on the coat rack, everyone went off to do their own things. My brother and sister went upstairs to their rooms, my parents stayed in the living room and watched tv, while I went into my room.

My bedroom had a black carpet which covered most of the floor, and a bed to the right of the entrance as well as a tv to the left that hooked up to all of my conceals and PCs on the left.

A small smile played its way to my face as I grabbed my phone and pulled up one of my friends (from college) contact numbers and texted them, asking if the wanted to play apex. After a confirmation, you started up your PlayStation/XBox (whichever floats your goat) and played with them till later into the night, only pausing occasionally when one of us had to eat or do something for our parents.

Once it did hit later into the night though, my friend had to get off and sleep because they had roommates who still had school for another week. We both said goodbye and logged off for the night, and thankfully soon after I got a text from one of my friends who lived not too far from my parents house.

Guess what!

(Y/n)-
Hmm?

(F/n)-
Kodzuken is doing a multiplayer live stream soon!!!

(Y/n)-
You still watch him?
I remember you ranting about how much you "loved him" in Highschool.

(F/n)-
Of course! I've watched him religiously since he first started gaming!
And he's supper hot!

(Y/n)-
Is this your introduction to asking to use my consoles?

(F/n)-
Maybeeee-

(Y/n)-
Okay, well whenever he live-streams you can come over and I'll help you play. Tell me what the games are in advanced though so I can see if I have them.

(F/n)-
Really! You're the best!!!

The conversation continued on for about an hour or two before I was called for dinner and we had to wrap it up.

I honestly never understood why my friend loved to watch that "Kodzuken" person so much, although I've never seen a video, I've always assumed that he was just some guy who was mediocre at video games who my friend could only look at with hearts in her eyes.

Then again, looking back on it my friend didn't really know anything about video games, so maybe I shouldn't have judged him based on what she said.

Regardless of this though, my day continued on as normal, as did the rest of my week. The weeks following after though, were nothing to consider "normal" in any way, shape, or form.
