As I was relaxing on the beach, I couldn't help but smile at the memory that just popped into my head.
I blocked out all the noise around me and took a deep breath. This is it. This is my chance. I opened my eyes and focused my attention on one small section of the soccer ball. Without a second thought, a drove the ball into the upper right hand corner of the goal.
The goalie missed my shot by a fraction of an inch, and the crowd went wild. I didn't even get a chance to process what just happened because my whole team tackled me to the ground while yelling and cheering. Our high school team just one the freaking State Championship Game! "Emma? Emma? Em!" A loud voice broke me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?" was my genius reply.
"Girl I've been trying to get your attention for the past five minutes!" I looked up to see the familiar emerald green eyes of my best girl friend, Ella Simms, staring down impatiently at me.
"Sorry, my bad. I was day dreaming." I grinned sheepishly at her.
"It's fine but Tommy has been bugging me for the last twenty minutes because he wants us to go play soccer with him and the guys over there." I looked in the direction she was pointing and saw a group of guys in their swimming trunks juggling a soccer ball between them.
I grinned up at her. "You know I could never refuse an opportunity to show up some guys at soccer."
She laughed at me and grabbed my arm. "That's what i thought now let's go!" We jogged over to Tommy and the other guys. I put my hands over Tommy's eyes and whispered, "Guess who?"
"Umm Megan Fox?" He snickered and I could feel a smirk playing on his lips. I playfully slapped him and said, "Ha ha. very funny."
"Hey a guy can dream, right?" Someone cleared their throat to bring us out of our conversation. Tommy casually slung his arm over my shoulder.
"Right sorry. Guys, this is Emma and that is Ella." He gestured to me and Ella as he said our names. "Girls, this is Matt, Nate, Johnny, Brian, and Landon." I had to hold back a gasp as Tommy introduced us to all the guys because they were, well, hot. First let me start with Tommy. He has light brown hair, that falls into his eyes, with golden highlights from the sun and light brown eyes almost like a honey color that you could get lost in while talking to him. And to top it off, he along with all the other guys were extremely built with six packs in tow. Next in the group was Matt. He had sandy blonde hair that was cut short and ocean blue eyes that would make any girl fall in love. Next was Nate but he basically looked exactly like Matt except his hair was a lighter blonde color. I think they might be brothers, twins even. Johnny was the complete opposite of Matt and Nate. He had short dark chocolate colored hair and super dark eyes that went along with his dark skin. Then Chris was the complete opposite of Johnny. He had pale skin, red hair, and light green eyes. Finally there was Landon. He was even hotter than the rest of the guys which I thought would be impossible but apparently it's not. He had golden tanned skin that went perfectly with his black hair that he kept short and spiked. And his eyes were a beautiful dark, almost, navy blue. I noticed a smirk slip onto his face as he noticed me checking him out, so I quickly looked away before he could see the light blush that covered my cheeks. I looked at the group of guys and guessed their were proabably college-aged. Oh well, time to regain my focus and kick their butts at the thing i do best, soccer. I put my hair up with the hair tie that I always had on my wrist and saw all the guys looking at me. I don't know why though because I think I'm only average looking compared to Ella. She is greek with long dark hair and bright, emerald green eyes. Me on the other hand, I have light brown hair which now has golden highlights in it from the sun, and my hair reaches half way down my back. However, the one trait I am proud of are my light blue eyes that have specks of dark blue throughout them. I was wearing a white bikini with a blue trim around the edges that showed off my flat tummy, and Ella was wearing a hot pink bikini with a white floral print. I cleared my throat to attract the guys attention to our faces rather than our bodies.
"So are we going to play or what?"
"Dude, Tom, you want her to play with us? She can't play, she's..she's a girl. We might like hurt her or something." I looked up to see Johnny looking warily at me.
"No, dude, she can hang, trust me." Tommy shot me a knowing smile, and I returned it.
After a couple minutes of arguing the teams were decided. It was Tommy, Nate, Brian, and I versus Matt, Johnny, Ella, and Landon. I was beyond excited. I love playing soccer and playing in the sand just makes it so much better. I beat Johnny in rock paper scissors, so my team got the ball first. Tommy passed it back to Nate and then Nate passed it through to me. I trapped the ball and started dribbling towards the goal. A grinning Landon jumped in my way, but I easily faked right, stepped over the ball while dragging it with the sole of my right foot. I turned around to see a shocked Landon lying on the ground with a look of disbelief on his face. I smirked and continued dribbling and easily placed the ball in between the two seashells we used as goal posts. My team was winning one to nothing, and the first team to five won.
After twenty minutes of playing, the score was five to four; my team won.
"Wow Emma you've got game!" Landon admired. I blushed and murmmured a quiet thanks.
"I never doubted you for a second!" Johnny grinned. I snorted and couldn't help but to smile.
"Yeah sure. Whatever you say Johnny.." I sarcastically replied.
After the laughter died down Tommy spoke up, "I hate to leave after only playing one game, but Em are parents are going to kill us if we don't get back soon. It's already 7 o'clock." Seven? Frick! I must have lost track of time when I was tanning on the beach.
"Awh okay. Same time tomorrow guys?" I asked. They all agreed enthusiastically.
Tommy, Ella, and I spent the rest of our summer vacation mostly relaxing on the beach and playing soccer with the guys. Then, at night we would go to the local club to dance and hang out. However, all good things must come to an end, and it was finally time to return back to reality a.k.a. high school. On our last day, Tommy, Ella, and I all exchanged numbers with the guys and promised to stay in touch. I was really going to miss them, especially Landon. Over the last two weeks we really got to know each other. We took long walks along the beach and talked about everything from school to sports to friends. I learned that he justed turned twenty two in May. Plus he graduated from college this past spring, and he has his first ever teaching job starting this fall. We clicked instantly and I am really going to miss him...
At least I have my senior year of high school to look forward to and best of all, our soccer team is going to be defending state champs this year. Heck yes!
