It took the large group a little while to find where all the food vendors were located. Noah and Xander gasped as they looked around. Tim closed his eyes and sniffed the air. Cerise began rubbing her belly. Ama just laughed and told the group to start looking around to find what they wanted. Since it was lunch time, Tim figured they should get something slightly hearty. They found a food stall that sold Steak sandwiches. Grilled slice steak served on a roll with the choices of grilled peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese sauce. Ama wanted hers with everything but the mushrooms.
Tim ordered all three adults a steak sandwich and the three children a steak on a steak. It was skewered grilled beef. He also ordered curly fries for everyone. As the group found themselves a table to sit at, both twins began to get squirmy and cranky. "Time to feed the girls!" Ama sighed as she leaned down to grab an already made bottle for each. Adam was bringing drinks over to the table while they waited on their food. Tim helped feed Willow while Ama fed Savannah. As they sat there, Cerise noticed another girl with her face painted.
"Daddy? She's got her face painted. Can we get ours?" Cerise asked.
"If we can find the stall, absolutely!" The blond smiled at his daughter.
"I want to look like a pirate!" Noah exclaimed making all three adults laugh.
"I want to look like a puppy." Xander said.
"I think I want butterflies on my cheeks." Cerise added in.
"I think you'll look adorable with butterflies." Ama told the girl.
Their food was finally brought and passed around. Xander and Noah giggled at how their food was on a stick. Lunch was a mess but it was a fun mess. All Cerise cared about after lunch was getting her face painted. Eventually they came upon the place that did it to Ama's relief. The two men stood in line with all three children while Ama stood back and talked to the twins. They were looking around and trying to speak making her giggle. It took a little while for the three kids to be finished with their face painting. Ama took a photo of each one as they were done.
In their travels, they came upon a small "village". It had live demonstrations of how things were done in medieval days. There was a blacksmith working on a piece of metal which wowed all the kids. Ama had to get a photograph and short video while they stood there watching. Moving on, they found a glass blower which really blew the kids' minds. Once more, Ama got some photos and a short video. The candle making was an interesting fact and they stood there watching for a few minutes as well. The boys weren't as interested in the weaving as Cerise was.
They took in a comedy show which had the adults laughing pretty hard. The smaller children didn't quite get some of the jokes but Cerise was having a good time. The twins had fallen back asleep from the rocking of being walked around. After the comedy show, they took in another show. This was of jugglers which astounded the two boys. "How do they do that, Daddy?" Xander questioned making his father laugh and tell his son he didn't quite know.
The next thing they came upon was an archery range. They had one for the kids as well. While Tim and Adam were trying their hands at archery, Ama took the kids over to the children's range. She had to help Xander and Noah but Cerise seemed to be a natural. She was the closest to hitting her target. Ama wanted to get some photos of the kids doing archery so she backed away and grabbed her camera. Cerise was giggling as she stood there. "Smile!" Ama called out making all three children turn and smile at their mother.
She zoomed in so she could get a few photos of Tim and Adam at the archery range. Adam seemed to be better at it than his lover was. Each were still having a good time even if there was some friendly competition going on between them. Ama just shook her head as she turned her attention back to the children. "This is fun, momma!" Xander exclaimed making Ama just smile at him.
"Can we get something else to eat?" Noah inquired.
"How about we see if we can find something sweet to eat?" Ama asked making all three kids throw down their bows and rush over to her.
She tried to limit how much sugar and processed foods they ate. If she was offering to let them eat sweets and junk food, it was a special day. When Tim and Adam walked over, Noah told his daddy they were going to go find something sweet to eat. It took a while to find a food vendor that sold sweets. Once they did, it didn't take long to decide on what they wanted to snack on. Beignets for the adults and Puddings in a Cone (banana, of course) for the children. All the kids were excited to get sweets as they continued walking around the grounds.
As they did, they came upon two minstrels strumming and fluting some unknown tune. The large family stopped to listen to the music that was being played for them. Tim took some money out of his wallet and tipped the duo generously earning a head nod in response from the flutist. Tim just smiled back as they stood there listening. After a little while, they decided to keep on walking. They eventually came to a bunch of shops and stalls that sold goods. Ama squealed in delight.
She pushed the stroller to one shop leaving her husbands and three children outside to wait for her. Everything was homemade, according to the shop owner. Ama picked up a couple large candles and happily handed over the cash for them. The shop owner bid her a good day as she left. They came upon a shop selling leather good. Tim wanted to check it out so he walked in with Noah. After looking around for a while, he picked up two belts, one for him and one for Adam. He hoped his lover would like the belt he found. The shop keeper told him all his goods were hand made. Tim liked that and told the shop owner so.
After his purchase, Tim and Noah rejoined the others. They looked around a while longer. Ama picked up some cute jewelry she found. Adam picked himself up a book. Xander started getting a bit cranky so Tim looked at what time it was. It had been a fun day but it was getting late and they still had a two-hour drive to get home. Upon telling the kids that they should probably start heading home, they all pouted and begged not to go. Tim had to get firm with them stating they had a two-hour drive ahead of them.
Ama just smiled as the two men took each of the boys' hands and began walking towards the entrance. Cerise walked next to Ama who was pushing the stroller behind the two men. It had been a fun day. They did get pictures with some of the staff that were in costume. To Noah's delight, they were able to get some pictures with two knights who had been in a sword fight on their way to the entrance. It eased his mood some when they did. Ama knew the kids were tired. She was tired! They had done a whole lot of walking that day. The valet brought their SUV around so Ama got the twins into their car seats before Adam collapsed the stroller and put it in the back.
Tim helped the other children get into their seats and get their seatbelts on. Ama climbed into the very back with Cerise while Tim climbed into the driver's side and Adam climbed into the passenger's side. It was a long, but quiet, trip home. They hadn't driven very far when the two boys and the twins fell asleep. Cerise was fighting to stay awake but she was managing rather well. Even Ama was fighting sleep on the way home. Tim smiled to himself. He was sure he'd help make some wonderful memories that the kids would never forget.
A/N: Sounds like they had a fun but busy day, huh? Think the kids enjoyed themselves?
