Ethan smiled as Embry snuggled closer to his body heat. The Saturday morning sunlight streamed through the cracks between the curtains and the air was crisp and chilly. Ethan pressed a hand to the smaller boy's forehead and willed a soft golden light to wash around him, easing any worries or fears.
Embry rolled over and opened his eyes, yawning. He blinked a couple of times, getting used to the light and then focused on Ethan. "Hey," He says, yawning again. "Hey", Ethan replied back.
Embry opened his mouth again, likely to reprimand him for repeating him (He had a thing about that), when Ethan's phone rang. He sighed and shifted to grab his phone and answer the call. "Hello?" He asked. "Hello Mr. Otto, we need you at a Juarez middle school, a 7th grader is having a breakdown and is acting...erratically." Ethan nodded and replied "I'll be there in 5 minutes, then hung up.
He glanced back at Embry, who was looking at him dejectedly , evidently upset that their morning together had been interrupted. "Hey, it's okay, I'll be back soon," Ethan tried to console his boyfriend, and it seemed to work, as Embry nodded with a quiet "Okay".
Ethan left and when he arrived at the school, he realized what Ms. Boyd had been talking about. From the proximity and the way the boy was acting, he guessed that the boy was having a panic attack and just didn't know how to handle it. Ethan slowly walked closer in deliberate, predictable steps until he reached the boy.
Ethan crouched down and asked him, "May I touch you?" The boy nodded slightly. Ethan moved closer and rested a hand on the boy's shoulder. He closed his eyes and let a current of warmth flow through his hand and into the boy's body, helping calm him down and feel safe and secure.
The boy, who Ethan later learned was called Ben, relaxed and looked up at him. "Hi", Ethan said, just to start simple. "Hi", Ben replied back. "Are you alright?" Ethan asked. Ben started nodding, but then frowned and shook his head. Ethan smiled and told Ben that that was okay.
After Ethan finished up, he went back to the small house he and Embry shared and went inside. He was immediately engulfed in a hug and a "You're back!" from Embry. They both sat down and spent the rest of the morning eating waffles and watching She Ra and the princesses of power, because they were dorks like that.
This one turned into mostly fluff and was a nice change from the last one. I hope this was fairly accurate as I've never been in relationship, nor had a panic attack. And if you were wondering, Ethan's power was Empathic healing. Also, Ethan is Embry's sort of soulmate and he'll be appearing as a love interest/partner whenever a story calls for it.
