A/N Welcome to the prequel of my Blumhouse submission. Although it didn't get that much recognition I wish to tell a story, nothing more. Btw I was going to post this earlier but I decided to make some edits but anyways I hope you all enjoy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Hi, I'm Olivia Browns a normal typical freshman. I have friends, good grades, and nothing weird has happened. That is until one of my friends...Allison decided to throw a slumber party at her house during Halloween. The night started with going trick or treating we all dressed up as a character we drew from a hat a month before Halloween. The character I drew was Jane the Killer. For the costume, my mom bought me a wavy black wig, a turtleneck dress that went down to my knees, and a ghostly white face mask with black lace behind the eye holes and a glossy black feminine smile.
   The only thing that wasn't bought was a pair of worn black ankle boots that I still wore. Allie had drawn from the hat Annabeth from Percy Jackson. She made a pretty convincing Annabeth with her natural grey eyes and tanned skin. Her dirty-blonde hair was what put off her looking exactly like Annabeth but, she claimed she was going to be the only one not using makeup and decided to only put in a single streak of grey in her hair.
   We went trick-or-treating for a couple of hours before coming back inside. For the next hour or so we relaxed in the living room talking about random school shenanigans or bragging about how much candy they got. Then we got bored and we all decided to play games to pass the time anything from uno, Jenga, anything we could get our hands on except video games since Allison's parents wanted everyone to have a night without electronics.
   That is until the games started to get a little weird like we played light as a feather stiff as a board. A few attempts were successful and continued with playing Bloody Mary. Just before I was going to call it a night and change into PJs Allie requested we play with an old Ouija board she found hidden in a box in her parents' closet. My tired brain just said 'oh what the heck' and joined everybody else. Three people were sleeping by then and four including Allie and I were still up to play. The other two people who stayed up were...Jay and Lila, I think. Allie invited them because they lived in the neighborhood.
   Jay had pulled Eyeless Jack and Lila pulled Sarada from Boruto. Anyway, Allie and I decided to go first, since the game requires two players but four was supposed to work better. Allie placed the old beaten-up Ouija board on the nicely varnished coffee table that sat in front of the stark white couch. Allie then ordered Jay to turn off the lights and grab a candle from her kitchen along with a lighter. Allie hurriedly grabbed a notepad that sat on a side table next to the couch. She handed Lila the pad and told her two things when the game starts.
   "One, write down every letter the planchette lands on and two you and Jay are the only other people who are going to be able to decipher what the spirit says." Lila stared frightened at the blonde her gray eyes looked grimly serious.
   "Allie you're s-scaring me a little," Lila said her dark brown eyes hidden behind the fake dark-red rimmed glasses stared back at Allie with alarm and fear. I didn't say anything as Lila's quivering hands took the notepad in her hands and now I feel guilty not saying anything. Even though there was nothing I could do at this point. All I could do was give Lila a sympathetic look. Jay came back with one pumpkin spice candle and a small lighter. The only other light was the light of the streetlamps from outside casting an eerie orange glow through the window. Allie stood up grabbed the Ouija board along with the candle and the lighter. She told us to get our shoes on and follow her. Jay the only boy in the group at this point asked about the rules of the game we were playing.
   Allie gulped and said she'd explain them on the way, she lied, of course. I quickly got my boots on and we left out the back door. When we got past the gate we crept through the forest behind the line of houses on Allie's street. It took us half an hour to reach our destination a large clearing with a giant cliff overlooking the neighborhood. The only light at this point were the streetlights, the stars, and the full moon that shone overhead. We all headed for the center and Allie placed the board along with its planchette in the middle.
   The rest of us sat down taking up each side of the board while Allie lit the candle. I sat facing Allie while the others sat at the empty spaces Lila clutching the notepad to her chest. While Jay sat slouched and leaning on his head on his hand. I was surprised he didn't seem fazed by what was going on. It honestly felt like one of those horror movies or a sick comedy depending on the route of the story. Once Allie was ready she handed Jay the candle and looked me dead in the eye.
   "Via, before we get started promise me, do not talk or make any noise under any circumstances and keep your mind on the planchette." Her gray eyes glowed almost a spine-chilling orange from the candlelight. They stared at me the same way she looked at Lila before handing Lila the notebook.
   "Yes, ma'am," I replied nervously giving her a small salute and placing my hands on the planchette. My droopy eyes made me close them for a second before opening. Allie gave me a signal to close my eyes and I did. I can't remember the first few questions Allie asked but the planchette did move. My mind at first thought that maybe Allie was moving the planchette until at some point Allie's fingers twitched but the planchette didn't move. I was barely putting pressure and I felt dread as I remember at least one of the questions.
   "What's my favorite song genre?" Allie asked she didn't seem scared in the least, I thought I heard a bit of joy. This was a stark contrast to how she was acting earlier and the planchette moved again quickly going from one letter to the next. I heard the scratching of a pencil until Lila told us the message her voice seemed to waver a bit from fear.
   "It says, 'I'm no mind reader but you seem to like to parade to music with drums and guitars'," Lila paused for a second and spoke again, "wait, Allie, you said you liked pop music." I couldn't see her reaction but the shift of the planchette told me she shrugged. A little later I fell asleep not knowing what would happen next... end of act I
A/N I hope you guys enjoyed Act I and please as an interlude take a little brain break. Get yourself some water or some popcorn because it's going to get darker...trust me. As I bid thee well...stay tuned.
